You mean the hook on the belt in the back that pins the blue blanket and secures the bottom of the mail? Yeah, it's to hang the scabbard so it doesn't get in the way when hoofwork is needed -like galloping.

Thanks guys! Yeah, I'm pretty happy with the way the mail turned out, though I think maybe I should have put a little (very) dark red in some spots to allow more of the surcoat to peek through.
