I realized that the Wind filter in GIMP can be used to emulate pixel sorting, but only if used in the right way. In this case, the base image has a cloudy spray can texture with large areas of light and dark color, so the filter achieves a very aesthetically pleasing pixel sorting effect, even though it's technically blending colors.Related content
