Here's an odd one from a few years back that was inspired by a clip from a DragonBall Z cartoon. Suffice it to say, I had no clue what was happening in said clip but this pic of Ralph & Rakeesh stemmed from it none the less. .... if I can use such a phrase.
I think I actually painted this too.

Oh yeah. I never much liked the first version. I'll hafta dig that one out & see if I still agree. This one I'm actually a little surprised with. I think I must have had an art spurt of sorts in 2001.

As someone who wasn't always a Dragonball Z fan, I can see where confusion set in. DBZ is famed for showing people bursting into flames with rocks and wind flying all around them. Battle auras and stuff. It's a Japanese thing. I'm guessing this was "inspired" by a scene with Goku or Vegeta fighting Majin Buu. Goku and Vegeta are those two guys with the weird black hair and Majin Buu is that weird pink thing with the M on his belt.

Yeah, actually, it's from the Yakkon episode where he sucks up Goku's chi or whatever until he explodes. I actually bought the episode & the Yakkon action figure cuz of it. For the most part, the show is insipid.... but, that can be a good thing too. I have another episode where Buu turns to pink goo & fills up this guy through the mouth until the guy explodes. They even edited that part down on Cartoon Network.

Oh yeah that thing. A lot of scenes look alike in DBZ. I remember Yakkon. That big frog looking thing right? I haven't watched all of the last episodes. Yeah I remember that nasty little explosion scene. Majin Buu is one bad MFer!

Yakkon explodes but his inflation scene is a bit... taunting. They don't show enough full body shots and he's shown from the back side when he explodes. Still like it though.
The Buu explosion scene was pretty well executed as far as that sort of thing goes... I just wish it wasn't some dumb man that did the exploding.
