There's like five Heathcliffs and three Catillac cats...it's kinda sad...
How many do teh boxed sets have?

Phraggle In reply to BlueTigress94 [2011-02-06 14:11:37 +0000 UTC]

That sounds like the one I'm watching now. Do some of the Heathcliffs have Hector & friends in them?

The boxed set has 24 complete episodes... but I've seen that there's waaaay more than that.

Hector and friends? Yeah, there's some where Heatcliff runs into the three of them.
You got these at Amazon right?

Yeah. They have several DVDs there & all were pretty cheap.

I'll have to go amazon then, which episodes are on yours?

On all of them? I dunno off hand. I know I have " Cats Angels " twice & that " Debutante " episode where they dress as girls.

hehe! That's the one i asked you about, I'd have to whip out my my dvds, but I kno I have the two you mentioned, I have catlantis (the one were they go look for treasure under the sea) Young cat with a horn, hector's takeover, and on tape, i have the moutain climbing one, the one where cleo is sent to the kennel, and I know I have the talent show one, maybe on both..unfortuently, I don't have any with roxy or dixie, but I have seen the one with Roxy on youtube.

Phraggle In reply to BlueTigress94 [2011-02-07 01:20:26 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. I just saw it yesterday. Wordsworth was awesome in that one.

I don't think I have the horn one... the others sound familiar though. I love the one with Roxy. That's where Riff Raff wants to go steady with Cleo & cheats on her moments later. I like how they take out a bag of cat nip.

BlueTigress94 In reply to Phraggle [2011-02-07 21:51:55 +0000 UTC]

I like Wordsworth too.
Cat Nip..and it's a kids show
Now that i think about it, Roxy kinda looks like my character, Cleo Blue, which is weird cuz I made her before I had ever heard of catalliac cats, except My Cleo has brown hair...

I wonder if that episode were made now, if the censors would let that one air. Roxy reminds me of Jessica Rabbit sort of.

Yeah, i know right.
I really hate that..cartoons these days are kinda stupid, I miss when cartoons could get away with stuff like that, not ot a ponit of being as nasty as family guy (no offense), but clever enough to make an adult laugh...and some of the animation is crap too! Like Fish Hooks for one..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Phraggle In reply to BlueTigress94 [2011-02-08 00:31:56 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. Cartoons today just seem to be missing something. It's like they're trying too hard to be wholesome or to not be wholesome. The great thing about that old Heathcliff toon is that it's just a cartoon. As far as I can tell, it wasn't a half-hour long commercial.

I like Clone Wars though.

OH! I just bought a Catillac Cats animation cel from eBay! $20 & free shipping!

Phraggle In reply to BlueTigress94 [2011-02-08 23:58:09 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure what it's from but it's a shot of Riff Raff, Hector & Wordsworth cutting across a back alley of what looks like a movie-set looking place. I picked that one cuz had Hector in it.

BlueTigress94 In reply to Phraggle [2011-02-09 00:06:18 +0000 UTC]

Cool. It's called a cell right? I was telling one of my firends about it and we couldn't figure out what the word was... It took us five minutes to coem up with the word "cell" It was funny considering he actually owns an animation cell from the clone wars.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Phraggle In reply to BlueTigress94 [2011-02-10 00:08:46 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. I think these cells only have one " l " though. I could be wrong. I have a few Ninja Turtle cels from the old cartoon. A few more Catillac Cats cels showed up on eBay today. One does feature Hector so, I put a bid on it. For some reason it's not a Buy-It-Now this time.

That first Clone Wars cartoon is one of the best Star Wars things out there.

If you get a chance, that Clone Wars cartoon is really cool.

Slainmonkey In reply to Phraggle [2011-02-01 00:36:02 +0000 UTC]

Haha, I know a lot of people like it but I'm generally not been fond of most of Dic's cartoons to be honest, but that's just me. That never the less doesn't take away from the quality of the artwork and the effort you put into it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Phraggle In reply to Slainmonkey [2011-02-02 00:15:38 +0000 UTC]

That's cool. I was just being goofy. I noticed with Heathcliff, they have a few different animation styles. I'm viewing it with more " seasoned eyes " now though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Slainmonkey In reply to Phraggle [2011-02-02 00:32:04 +0000 UTC]

Well that's not uncommon as cartoons usually are worked on by more then one animation team.....I find if a person looks closely enough you can tell

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Phraggle In reply to Slainmonkey [2011-02-05 00:31:20 +0000 UTC]

True. True. It's more blatant in some toons... which can suck... like with Talespin or the old ninja turtles, because sometimes some of the animation is sub par compared to others.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Slainmonkey In reply to Phraggle [2011-02-05 01:10:38 +0000 UTC]

Ren & Stimpy I find an interesting one to look at because stylistically the animation would like wildly different depending on who the helmed which cartoon and as such some episodes would look wildly different to others. Each artist did their own thing and as inconstant as it made it....I kinda liked it because you kinda got a feel for the different looks of the individual artists.

Phraggle In reply to Slainmonkey [2011-02-05 01:12:17 +0000 UTC]

That show lost me after the the first season. It got too gross for me. I was in love with the first... what 7 or so episodes though. I never realized it had different artists though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Slainmonkey In reply to Phraggle [2011-02-05 01:35:21 +0000 UTC]

I have a somewhat twisted sense of humor so Ren & Stimpy really appeal to that for me. However what disgusted me was the early 2000's revival Ren & Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon.....now that show was too disgusting for my tastes, but it wasn't ever amusingly so and much of it was just uncomfortably mean spirited.....I couldn't see the humor in that one.

Also I think it's much more prominent in the second seasons then the first because the artists all kinda seemed to go off and do their own things so the styles would vary a lot, but if that approach reminded me of anything I would say it would be the Looney Tunes theatical shorts how each artist had their own takes on how the cartoons looked......Chuck Jones being my personal favourite

Phraggle In reply to Slainmonkey [2011-02-05 22:45:05 +0000 UTC]

Ren & Stimpy got kinda old after a while. I heard about those new ones. I had no intention of watching them.

It's odd that nobody really knows who the cartoonists are anymore. I wonder if that can change.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Slainmonkey In reply to Phraggle [2011-02-05 23:02:06 +0000 UTC]

Well it's sort of did change there of a brief while in the 90's bit now most cartoons look interchangeable now all being animated in vector and following the same basic designs.....they could have been animated by virtually anyone. As such in cartoons these days there is almost no artistic individuality. Kinda depressing really.

Phraggle In reply to Slainmonkey [2011-02-06 14:13:44 +0000 UTC]

I know. I'm trying to be hopeful about it though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Slainmonkey In reply to Phraggle [2011-02-06 14:35:52 +0000 UTC]

well I think they are kinda in the drawn of a change in animation, reason I think this is due to the success of The Regular Show which is an artist controlled cartoon.....the creator is on DA too I believe. While I wasn't gungho on the pilot (haven't seen the rest of the series) it's success is a good sign that executives are becoming a little more flexible on that idea......as an aspiring cartoonist myself I'm hopeful myself.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Phraggle In reply to Slainmonkey [2011-02-06 23:15:45 +0000 UTC]

Heh heh. As far as the Regular Show goes, to each their own. To me, that show is trying too hard or, more likely, it's just not for me. BUUUUUT, that is good that it's creator controlled & all.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Slainmonkey In reply to Phraggle [2011-02-06 23:36:42 +0000 UTC]

I didn't care for the Pilot.....after seeing it I had not real desire to see any more of it, but I hope that creator controlled cartoons retake off again because that's pretty much a cartoon artist's dream, I can't objectively say if my ideas are any good but I think that there are some people here who are very talented and are bursting with great ideas, I would like to think they have a chance to make those ideas come to life.
