Here's Preed from Titan A. E. again. I like Preed. The movie is just okay. It's nice to watch it with the directors' commentary though.Related content

Preed is absolutely my favorite design from this movie. Your rendering of him here is badass! I like the subtle colored highlights.

Thanks. He's really the only reason why I like the movie. I'm still wanting to capture him a few more times some day.

Recently rediscovered this movie, I like it a lot, probably up there in my favourites because of the 2D animation being just so amazing (I really look up to Don Bluth's animation style, and it makes the bad cgi moments less distracting...except the last bit where it pans out into space....yeah, that was a shame, I guess the budget ran out) the voice acting is great and, despite it's flaws, the story is pretty good too.
As for your art, you really do my favorite character justice, he looks incredibly sly, which proves you captured his personality, and I've always loved the way you color your drawings. So you leave me no choice but to fave your work HUZZAH!
I wonder how Preed got that plate in his head, do you think the movies character designers beat him over the head with their unexplained-backstory-sticks?

Oh yeah, that very last scene on planet Bob looked like that old Transformers Beast Wars show. Honestly, I think Preed is the only connection I have to the movie. Stith is okay but I dunno if I'd really care that much about her if Preed wasn't in it.
I watched the trailers on the DVD and thing I noticed about them is that they barely showed any of the non-human characters. If they didn't include Preed's line about " weeping for the species " in that one trailer... and I didn't pay attention to action figures, I may have never bothered to watch the movie.
I do have another Preed drawing in my gallery. I still wanna at least do him once more though.
As for Preed's head plate... I think I heard it was explained in some sort of prequel comicbook series or something. I thought I read he and umm.. Korso were injured in a shoot-out and they met each other while recuperating. I recall it being mentioned in the commentary but they may have just been speculating about it as well.

The aliens were much more interesting. I am normally not a prequels fan but I would actually be interested in a story about how the crew met up (possibly a war to explain Preed's injury) and what they went through before hearing about Cale. It would be nice to see.
I have a few Preed drawings which I may upload, I'd like to try drawing him without reference though, his design is a lot of fun.
I think the head-plate was designed by somebody else, but Bluth said he always believed it was a war from what I heard in the commentary, like it was a hint towards Preed's true nature (that and the hilarious scene when he's shooting the bug) but I guess it's all a mystery.
Also have to say, I love that they made Preeds music Reggae, being a reggae fan myself

I think because Titan AE doesn't have a huge following or a bunch of existing history that it makes for fun fan art... kinda like the Catillac Cats I've been doing.
I drew a bunch of Preed sketches while watching the movie and bought a set of the trading cards. I still don't think I've captured him quite the way I want.
Hmm, I didn't notice they had theme music for the characters in that movie. I like Preed's disguise too.

Yeah, not to mention the great designs. Preed's a tricky character to draw just right, bet your sketches are great though.
It wasn't so much his own music specifically (not named "Preed's theme" or anything like that), but there was one song written for the movie with him in mind, and it's a reggae song called "renegade survivor." it suits him somehow.
Oh gosh that disguise XD and his attempt to get past the guard.
"I need a new slave rather badly STOP FIDGETING WORM!" *slaps Korso* "and I have an appointment to have my ear shaved it has to be booked months in advance, you understand."

Thanks. His neck is the tricky part in particular.
It's be cool if some company got the rights to make Titan AE statues & things. I'd hafta get a Preed if they did. The action figure is cool and useful but could be improved.

Yeah, I agree wholeheartedly; I'd love a Preed statue. Shame that the movie wasn't more about the alien characters, it would have been cool to see the adventures of the Valkyrie crew.
Maybe I'll get the action figure sometime, I don't think I'll ever be too old for those things XD

The Preed figure was kinda tough to find as he was from the 2nd assortment. He comes with some sort of vehicle and the canon. Of the series, he was the most accurate. Stith came with a weird outfit.

I'll gladly take any reminder of "Titan". Hmmm--looks like he's in a brig. A glimpse of Preed's likely dark past? Great stuff at any rate! Nice, menacing lighting.

You're kind... the movie is far from okay. It doesn't even live up to "poor." I can hardly begin with the ways I would have told that story differently.
Literally... it's been too long for me to remember.

TaralWayne In reply to Phraggle [2012-01-10 06:05:48 +0000 UTC]
Especially as some asteroids may well be largely ice. Comets are, after all. Maybe all that's different about a comet is that it formed in the icy Oort cloud instead of the rocky inner solar system, but -- after being formed -- comets get pulled out of their circular orbits into cometary orbits bringing them closer to the sun that is good for them.
