She was in a very short science-fiction-cowboy series called "Firefly" and a sequel feature length movie called "Serenity", both by Joss Whedon, who also did "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" and the spin-off "Angel". While Buffy and Angel were very successful, Firefly sucked big time, because the main character was such a jerk. And while women were really into the romantic relationships in Buffy and Angel between humans and monsters (a bit like the nowadays phenomenon with those Twilight movies), the captain of the spaceship was the total idiot. Women just hated him and only really stupid guys would see him as a rolemodel. Note, that it was not the acting. It was the setup of the character. All female characters in the series were really cool, played by good actresses - Jewel played the mechanic Kaylee - she´s cute, but her feet are a tiny bit too large
And the only really cool male character was the notorious underdog, because he was a smart and educated man and he couldn´t win against the other macho-idiots who were in love with their big guns. Anyway - they didn´t even finish the first season, before Firefly was cancelled. But at least they made the movie Serenity to wrap up some of the open story-treads. Don´t watch Serenity, if you don´t know Firefly. It´s only confusing and doesn´t make sense, if you don´t know Firefly.
