Description:
A group of endangered kobolds are without a dragon to protect them. We urge eco-friendly adventurers to travel up to the location and provide the kobolds with protection and care until a new dragon moves in to take care of them.

The rewards offered were puny, as in every other environmental quest, but taking care of nature was the most important prize to me. Sadly, I was a selfless minority, because other adventurers cared more about hoarding treasures and growing in rank. Some even made fun of me as if I was a failure… as if I was worthless... and just a naive idealist.

But I wouldn’t let that thought bring me down. I was going to make a difference, even in small doses! I was gonna make sure everyone still had a healthy world to live in, even if nobody seemed to care.

— Let’s do it! — I puffed my chest and smiled before marching into the cave, ready to do my part in helping nature.

In my experience, kobolds were friendly creatures who loved company and were quick to open their hearts. They enjoyed showing off their collections of shiny rocks and offering warm hugs to “tallfolk”. However, ill-intended humans and greedy dragons historically took advantage of that trait to turn many kobolds around the world into their personal minions or slaves. Even supposedly heroic adventurers sometimes captured kobolds and turned them into obedient pets.

In essence, those adorable lifeforms needed to be sheltered from bad influences, while no proper dragon showed up to protect them. A dragon I would surely interview and test, just to make sure they were kindhearted enough to be a caregiver.

As I stepped into the cave, I put both hands around my mouth to announce my presence:

— Hello? Anybold here?

Soon, a tiny figure, smaller than my arm, skittered out from the shadows and instantly clinged to my leg, purring while wagging its tail… And I couldn’t help but smile at the adorabold scene! Those poor things were treated like monsters or pets by most when all they wanted was love and cuddles!

The creature rested against my skin, basking in my warmth and my smell. I felt bad for them, all alone in that dark cave. Maybe I should light a fire to keep them warm.

— Don’t worry! You are safe now! — I held the kobold’s cheek and giggled. — But where are the oth...

While I was distracted, another little lizard jumped me from behind and sat on my shoulders. I was about to fight back out of warrior’s reflex, but I instead dropped my sword as soon as it nuzzled my hair and started licking me like a puppy excited to see its owner.

— Daaawww! — I blushed, not expecting such a welcome. — Are you lonely?

The creature responded with even more licking and squeezing. Its wagging tail brushed against my back, dusting it off. I wished to hug all of them at the same time!

When I lowered my guard, I was surprised to find something clasp around my neck. I looked down with a reddened face, and stared at a pink leather collar! The kobold on my back was holding the leash with a victorious smile, as if it had captured a mighty beast. Those cuties were so playful that babysitting them didn’t even seem like a job at all.

— Oh no! I got captured! — I giggled and pretended to squirm. I could break free at any time, but chose to play along. — Now I can’t leave!

Though under most circumstances, a choker befitting a dog would be disgraceful for an adventurer to be caught wearing, I only took it as a sign of affection. The kobolds had leashed me because they didn’t want me to leave! So sweet!

Both kobolds purred loudly and wagged their tails. Witnessing that adorable scene, my face warmed and my skin felt tingly. A strong sense of fulfilment took over me, my heart pumped violently, and I started to purr in rhythm with those cute kobolds… before long, without even realizing, I also shook my booty as if I was wagging a… a...

I gasped when a banana-sized stub pushed against the seat of my pants, wiggling right above my butt. It resembled a snake plugged to my tailbone… and I could feel it… and move it!

— Eeeew! Eeeeeew! What in the world?

I cringed, grossed out by that extra, still-elongating limb that threatened to rip my pants. What was going on with me? Humans don’t just suddenly grow big tails!

As if things weren’t uncomfortable enough already, a third kobold tore the back of my pants and then bit the very tip of my new uncanny limb! The sudden shock travelled straight to my skull with such intensity that I hunched over and grit my teeth. With the other kobold leaning on my back, I lost balance, catching myself on my hands and knees similarly to an animal.

— H-hey! What’s going oooplghdjk!

My tongue swelled and my face was pushed outwards mid-sentence, fusing mouth and nose into a tiny… muzzle?

Snout? Tail? Collar? Oh no! Was I turning into a pet!? Some wizard had probably lost that cursed collar, and now the kobolds thought it was a toy! THAT WAS NO TOY! I had to get that artifact off of me quickly!

— Stoph fis wight now! — I could barely talk with a mouthful of saliva oozing out, and I snorted hot air through my flared nostrils — I'm noff meanf to be collawed! I canf pwotect u if I’ma dowg!

I expected to sprout canine fuzz, instead a pair of horns formed on both sides of my head, and the kobolds cheered as I started to resemble them. The one hugging my neck even started petting those things. They loved those pointy spikes!

I wondered why I had forgotten to grow those horns before coming in…

Everybody knew you needed horns when babysitting kobo...

Wait…

No! No! No! I don’t need horns! These kobolds are messing me up!

I tried to get back on my feet and shake the kobolds off of me, but my muscles were completely stiff and every fiber in my body was overwhelmed with growth cramps. My movements were reduced to little squirms and grunts. I couldn’t even take off that goddamn collar with my paws…

P-p-paws?

Paws!?

Why do I have paws!?

My arms and legs bulged and widened, more muscular than before. Those four limbs also changed to have the same length and appearance, so I could no longer be called a bipedal person at that point… nor a person at all. Rather than five fingers or toes, my clumsy paws now had three thick, curved digits that ended in rugged, spear shaped nails! As I squirmed and growled, those very nails opened deep cuts on the solid rock! They were sharper than my sword!

— Stoph! I’m noff a peft! Lemme go! This ish a misundeffstanbing! This ish a…

The tip of my tail was gnawed once again, sending yet another powerful rush to my skull. But this time I was met with an overwhelming bliss that made my face turn red. Something deep inside me commanded me to let go… To be my true self… To transcend the limits of humanity and help those kobolds… Help them forever…

N-no… I can’t… I gotta go back to the guild… and meet my...

I swore to give my life for nature, didn't I?

I did…

I swore to always work for the betterment of the environment, didn’t I?

I did...

I had come here to protect those kobolds! Why was I fighting? they needed me… They really need me… They need me to grow a tail. Grow a tail! GROW A TAIL!

— Head… feeling… dizzy… RAAAWR! — A deafening, unladylike growl escaped from my throat.

TAIL! TAIL! TAIL!

The rest of my shorts burst open and a long, thick appendage widened my thighs apart to make room for it… until its base was as large as my waist. Even my private parts were moved out of the way!

As the long thing sprawled behind me, the kobold biting my tail was lifted into the air, but didn't let go as I swung it left and right. The creatures giggled playfully! My body made them smile! That innocent laughter was so contagious. My owners were having fun… so much fun...

Owners? These are not my owners!

I stomped the ground in anger and puffed a cloud of smoke from my flared nostrils. It felt like my whole body was burning. Those kobolds were turning me into a monster! I had to take that damn collar off of me before it was too late!

— Rrrelllllllll...

An abyssal pressure formed around my boobs, compressing them into my body and hardening them into bulky muscles that spread all over my chest. I gained rigid abs that were hard enough to withstand a blow from the sharpest of axes!

Next, I let out a monstrous, pleasurous groan as my uterus spasmed and emptied itself. As I tried to catch my breath, my womanly cave was turned inside out to form a new limb... Something that only men were supposed to have!

That sudden, sensitive addition to my body was worse than all the others combined! Half of my mind wanted to cut it off with my sword, but the other half started daydreaming about beautiful, plump, steaming female dragons.

— Rawr! RAAAWR! NOOOOO!

WHY IS THIS TURNING ME ON?

MUCH LESS A BEAST!

My neck cracked and elongated as a dozen new vertebras popped into existence. My head was able to flop all the way to the floor, surrounded by drool and tears. I cried and yelled, confused and scared, as there was nothing I could do about it. My body wouldn't even obey me!

— Rawr! — Even my words had been stolen! — RAA-A-A-A-AAWR!

Two large wings opened like sails from my back, big enough to shelter every kobold in my den from a rainy day… Big enough to cover all of them like a blanket at night… Strong enough to fly them on my back and… uh... Why am I thinking like this!? I’m not a dragon!

My chest contracted and my cheeks puffed out, before a fiery belch forced itself out of my mouth… Proving me wrong...

— Rrrrrrrr!

Many other kobolds scurried out from the tunnels and gathered around me, with big, happy puppy eyes. They massaged my body to alleviate the growth cramps; they nuzzled me until I relaxed... They loved me… They loved me very much… They loved me more than anyone had ever loved me before… This was where I belonged…

I am helping!

I am doing my part!

I am helping nature!

I am not a failure!

I am worthy!

My life has… a meaning.

Day 01:
It’s still very bizarre to have the kobolds pull my leash and force me to walk around on all fours, but at least my long tail helps me keep balance… By the way, why does it keep wagging all the time? Am I happy all the time?
Wasn't I supposed to be scared?
Oh! They’re climbing on my back now! Again...

Day 02:
At all times there’s always at least one kobold gnawing at my tail, and I have no idea why they do it, but I suppose it must be some kind of stress relief. Like it’s a warm plushie for them to play with. My body is like an amusement park for them. They make me feel useful…
I can really make a difference in their lives!
Plus their little teeth hardly hurt anymore, as my skin has started to strangely mold itself... I am itchy all of a sudden, and I can’t even relieve it with my claws! Somebold scratch me, please!
Thankfully the kobolds brought me cold water to help alleviate this feeling… they’re such good owners…

Day 03:
My claws are much bigger and sharper.
I’m already used to the muzzle obstructing my view to the point where my mind forgets it's there sometimes.
The itch is no more. My body is full of shiny scales now.
There is a furnace raging deep inside me, and the kobolds are always around to enjoy my heat. Sometimes they poke my belly so that I accidentally burp out a fireball for them to laugh at.
I'm important here…
I'm loved...

Day 04:
My clothes are feeling tight…
Kobolds had to help me remove the rags…
They’re now reusing rags as little shoes and hats.
It was strange at first to be naked…
But now it feels better…
Feels natural to proudly show off my beast form...
kobolds look at my body and smile.
They see strength… They see a guardian… And they see a pet…
I'm a good pet.

Day 05:
Whenever I sneeze, smoke comes out.
That’s funny. Kobolds giggle when I sneeze…
Maybe I should learn how to sneeze on purpose.
My wings are huge now!
I can keep every kobold under them when we go to sleep in our nest!
And my body is producing so much heat now!

Day 06:
I’m having silly ideas now...
I’m thinking about plump dragon women…
Can’t take my mind off those fantasies…
I feel embarrassed…
Feel shame...
But kobolds tell me it’s natural…
That I shouldn’t be ashamed…
Loving other dragons is completely natural...

Day 30:
We go out for walkies!
I fetch balls!
I roll and get belly rubs!
This is fun!
I love this place!
I protect them and they make me smile!
They feel safe around me.
And I feel safe when they hold my leash.
