Character Info:

Phyrexia is one of an ancient species scattered throughout the cosmos. Originally evolved to infect Celestials as a plague known universally as the Horde, she is estimated to be billions of years old, but the exact number is unknown. Exceptionally lethal and with an insatiable drive to maintain the ecological homeostasis of the universe, she has the power to bring down even the most powerful beings when she deems them a threat to the balance of life. She is the only one of her kind that has found its way to Earth.

History:

After infecting a Celestial that fell to Earth and died, she found herself all alone of the strange dead planet. The Celestials DNA sparked the beginnings of life, and after millions of years, life flourished. She grew fond of the planet and it’s diverse ecology, mutating to infect any biological threats that would evolve there.
When another Celestial came to Earth in search of its fallen brethren, not forgetting her original purpose, she infected it, driving it to madness. In an effort to stop the sick Celestial, Odin if Asgard came to earth to defeat it and bury it deep underground to contain the infection. Being the prideful race they are, he took some of its blood, freezing it inside of a relic to keep with his other trophies on Asgard, trapping Phyrexia in the process.
Many years later, Loki, son of Odin and god of mischief, stole the relic and returned it to earth in hopes that the natives would either worship him for the gift, or open the relic and unleash chaos on the humans that he deemed beneath him.
Sometime after, when the culture had long since died, an archaeologist discovered the relic, it was opened, and she was free. Seeing what humans had become and the pain and destruction they cause to the community of life, including the vivisection and eradication of her own fellow viruses, she vowed to avenge them by waging war on humanity.

Abilities:

Because she evolved in Celestials, she too has the ability of creation in the form of controlled mutagenesis. She can break down and reconstruct DNA at will, be it her own or that of others. This makes her incredibly skilled at adapting to any situation and dealing with a wide variety of threats, as well as giving her the power to regenerate herself or others. She frequently uses this power to mutate between types, drastically changing her appearance and abilities, and form wings to make her airborne. She can also form Drones because of this ability, small insectoid virions, that she uses as scouts or servants to infect the cells around her, mutating them with her own DNA. She can also deliver her infectious DNA through her tail barbs, sending them like projectiles at her enemies.
Because her DNA is so complex and changing, she has the ability to synthesize any number of chemicals and enzymes. Her favorite, and primary assault weapon, is an enzyme as works as a powerful corrosive acid. She secretes the glowing enzyme from her hands and claws, corroding anything she touches.
She also has the ability to manipulate energy and radiation, but it is a less utilized skill in this typing. Due to the many years of interstellar travel and exposure to vast amounts of cosmic radiation, she can utilize the energy absorbed over time, often in the form of hovering in this type. She can fly without her wings, but chooses not to because she prefers the wing aesthetic. Viruses are not without a sense of style, no matter where they are from.

Personality Traits:

Phyrexia is a natural born killer, absolutely evil towards anything she sees as a threat or anyone who crosses her. She is not above bestowing a slow torturous death to her enemies. She is very confident and driven, fulfilling her purpose at all costs. That said, she has a soft spot for her fellow pathogens, making her a very protective and powerful ally, even acting playfully or compassionate when in the right company. That isn’t to say she wouldn’t be willing to kill another virus if they too overpopulate and threaten the balance of life, as she sees the protection of life in general as important above all else and bigger than any one species. Because she has spent so many years isolated, she has an interest in novelty, curious about anything new to her. Unfortunately, her isolation and having been trapped on a planet where she is the only one of her kind, has also caused severe internal suffering in the form of sorrow, loneliness and rage, which can manifest itself in the form of chaotic destruction if triggered by something.
She also hates Asgardians with a passion for imprisoning her, compounded by the fact that they are immune to disease and left to populate and spread unchecked.
