2) Samus leaves and becomes human again (can be either on the day or in the night)
3) Samus decides to leave, but Ariel won't let her, and hypnotizes her into believing she was born a mermaid.

It is not only you! There is always the excitement of a new adventure and a new beginning when a mermaid drags herself to land.

I'm always a fan of so-called "fish out of water" stories. Normal mermaids in the sea stories can get blase after a while, so it can be fun to see it mixed up. I wonder why folks explore other ideas like:
- A jungle civilization of mermaids that live just as much in the treetops as they do in the oceans, rivers, and cenotes...
- A mermaid that discovered high technology when very young and realized electricity and water didn't mix, so she abandoned the sea for good for a rent controlled apartment in Redmond, WA, works in IT, and has a gaming blog...
- A mermaid that somehow develops aquaphobia, moves out into the desert, and becomes a caravan master of the dunes...
- You know, I think there are pretty much no stories about mermaids that advanced their civilization so far they are capable of space travel, or live alongside other sentient races that help to create a spacefaring coalition on their world and become part of it. Why no mermaids in space?
So yeah, I love to see mermaids dragging themselves out onto the beach. :3
