Description
This is my crochet Mr. Mint made for the Candyland contest over at He is the newer Mr. Mint instead of the traditional one I'm used to seeing. But I liked his overalls so I went with this version. So far there isn't a lot of entries but it ends at the end of the month so I hope more people enter! This is the image I used to make him. [link]
I wasnt sure about how his hair looked so I kind of winged it. The hat has white paint on it because I didn't want to dye a white hat red. If I had worked the stitches in they wouldn't have been at the right angle I needed. The edge of the hat is longer that it appears here, its the angle that makes it look shorter. The hat is removable. Hair is made from felt. Nose is actually yarn that I knotted and then glued on. :3 He has an ear! Aww.
Gloves are separate and he actually has 5 fingers on each glove. They are meant to be over sized like in the link. Shirt stripes are fabric marker, as well as the the part around his neck and socks. His pants are put onto him like real pants except his suspenders aren't removable. Buttons are made of felt and glued on.
Candy cane staff (not sure what it is in the link) and candy cane axe are pipe cleaners. I think the axe is brown in the link but oh well brown would just look strange with all this red and white. Sock ruffles were attached afterwords and sewn around the leg. The shoes actually have those laces sewn on.
That's it hope you enjoy this one of a kind piece!

This is adorable and about 700X better than the guy in the reference picture. The bold shapes and colors are perfect for creating a cartoon character! He's not just well made, he is also graphically bold and striking. He's my favorite of your humans so far. I'm so impressed that you are entering every contest this month! It's making me feel quite inadequate.

Thank you so much!
Everything about this comment makes me
all at the same time!
I hope I can keep making things that make people smile like this in the future! And no way, you aren't inadequate! I WISH I could make things the way you do. Mine are so small, you add so much character into the large things you make. I just happened to be free at the time the contests happened. Otherwise I probably would have only been able to do one, or maybe none at all!

So cute! He looks fantastic! I had thought about entering this contest (haven't had time) and I was totally going to make Mr Mint, only the older version. Those hands are great! Fingers! Ah! And I like his feet.

Thank you! These contests just happened to come at a time I wasn't busy. I was going to make the older version except I didn't have that many pinks (and I totally thought it was a girl XD) So the newer one was the best choice for me.
Even though it looks like he has 20 shades of red here lol It would have been nice to see your version too!

I liked the older style because of all the roundness to it, like the shorts and shoulders, but yeah, so much pink. I definitely like what you did with the newer style; you gave him an adorable face! I just looked it up: the new one has a odd sort of face... And you sort of combined the two. It's the perfect Mr Mint!
20 Shades of Red. A Candy Land fic gone horribly, horribly wrong...?

This looks amazing, as always your attention to detail is just incredible. And his face is just adorable, I don't know how you get them to come out so great looking, mine always look silly, ha. I hope you win the contest!

Thank you so much! I try to get them as close as I can to what they're based off of. Sometimes its a real challenge but occasionally they just come easy.
I use tiny glue on eyes, I think that really adds to the cute effect
So far there is only one other entry, so I just might haha.

You're welcome I'm awful at creating patterns for dolls, hats and scarves I seem to be good at though.....The glue on eyes are adorable because they're more even than the safety eyes, but even your mouths look adorable.

Thank you so much! I tired to get in as many details as possible. His little nose and shoe laces are my favorite part though
There are a lot of great prizes I'm trying to win haha. The custom amigurumi by you and the one year premium membership have really made me want to win!
