Description
Finally finished with the Snow Leopard. I am super happy with the way she turned out. This is for they are having a Winter themed contest.Snow leopards also have shorter leg, snow shoe paws, and a thick tail almost a meter long. These features help them balance on the rocky terrain of their home. They have long hair with thick underfur. Their thick tails can wrap around their bodies and keep the wind out of their face.
This whole piece started out white. All the coloring was added later with fabric markers. (I asked before if this would still be acceptable for the contest and it was allowed.) I looked at so many pictures of snow leopards to make this that I lost count. Every single one of them had different spots. So it was a bit tricky to nail the basic layout of the spots, but I'm happy with it. Since the piece is brushed to make it fluffy, the spots move with the fur. The end of the tail looks a little ruffled but actually those spots are are the same as the spots at the base of the tail. Fluffy :3
I decided to use a dark background with this one because the white one tends to wash out light pieces. I also added some rocks for her to stand on. I'm really happy about how the whole piece came together. I was going to take some different angles but then the whole table I had them on fell and everything went everywhere. Plus it was like 12 degrees outside and I couldn't feel my hands.
Hope you like it!
P.S. I probably wont be able to finish the tigers this month I'm making some pieces to trade and sell, but look forward to them next month.

Thank you so much! I couldn't find patterns for what I wanted to do most of the time so I ended up making them myself lol. This one is actually brushed yarn that was trimmed and colored with copic markers. When you absolutely can't find the color you need, copic or prisma color markers are great for tiny details.
Sure, as long as it credits back to me. : 3
Though I don't have any of my patterns available to the public anymore. My patterns have been redistributed without my permission on multiple sharing sites as well as thousands of other people's patterns, so I have taken them all down.

Yea I got sick of mass selling plushies. I ended up putting myself in the hospital trying to keep up with demand. And of course you would get credit. I like paying it forward. When someone has an idea they should get credit for it Anyways maybe with attaching your name to work I do will get you more work.Β
And my patterns are being pirated all over as well -_- I figured out where my main leak was, it was my pattern testers. Now I chose people I've thoroughly vetted. What has the world come to that crochet patterns are being pirated lol.Β

Oh geez, yea thats no good! My arms go numb if I crochet too much in one day, can't imagine pushing enough to be hospitalized. Hope things are better now!
Wow! Thats pretty low to steal patterns that aren't even done yet! Even the famous PlanetJune can't stop them and all of her patterns have legal copyrights and stuff on them. They dont seem to care they all go under the guise of "sharing for educational purposes". Then IP block people who say anything differently. Shame shame.

Yea it's not like we do this for a living or anything. But yea I went insane 1 year and made like 40 plushies in a month. I was trying so hard to get toys to kids for christmas :3 My hands were useless for so damn long.Β
I have PlanetJune linked in my pattern profiles to her tutorials. I just find pattern thieves to be idiots.Β

Oh my gosh, my arms would fall off trying to do 40 in a month. You are a champ!
Some of my very first patterns were from planetjune. Love that orangutan, someday I'll finish that lemur xD
Yea, they are part of the reason we have to price so high. Fewer people buying the patterns, have to make up for it somehow. Less initiative to put in the work to create more patterns for people if they just get stolen. Supporting a small business helps the buyer too. More things they can put out there for the customers. Sad the way some people do. But usually the good ones outweigh the bad ones thankfully.

Yea, my business has gone down but thankfully it still crawls by. My MLP & Eeveelution patterns have really helped keep my family afloat. Hoping next year to come up with another money making set.Β

Pikachu evolutions might be popular. Eevee and Pikachu will probably get a big boost with Lets Go Pikachu and Eevee out recently.

This is stunning. What kind of yarn did you use? I've been wanting to try brushing, but I only really use acrylic yarn. Is this a wool yarn or something of the sort?

Pickleweasel360 In reply to black-moon-flower [2013-05-14 23:16:25 +0000 UTC]
Thank you! This yarn is acrylic also. I used Red Heart Super Saver yarn for this. I brushed it out pretty long then trimmed it down so it gave it a short fur effect. Wool works pretty well too, since it tends to want to fray anyway. 'I Love This Yarn' isn't very good for brushing. It may be soft, but I can brush it forever and it basically just dissolves. I can never get it to brush out as long as the Red Heart brand.

Ah, great! That's what I use the majority of the time. What kind of brush? Like the wire brushes at the pet store?

Yep! Thats exactly what I use. Ones with a wide base work really well. [link]
