Description This is the skull deer character requested by a friend. It is an altered version of my deer pattern to represent the long lean character its based on. The only thing I'm not happy with is the antlers, they are way to fluffy for this project but they were the only kind left at Hobby Lobby. My friend says its fine though he loves all of it.

The character is named Fever. Fever is a sort of Helldeer if you can call it that. The 'pet' of the grim reaper sent to create a sickness among the people he touches. So that when they are dead the reaper may take them. Fever wears a skull mask that fits over his 'blood bone' antlers. His hooves are made of a material that heats up when he is angry and glow a bright red. Along with his hooves is the fur of his tail which turns a bright red when he infects you. Within days you die from an intense fever, from which he is named.

Fever had long skinny legs like they were just barely skin and bone but the lower part was furry. I brushed the yarn to get the effect on the legs and the neck. Fever had 3 versions it could turn into with similar coloring; a fox, a deer, and a dragon. The deer version is the favorite and the one represented here.

The eyes are the same as the other deer except I painted them red. The skull was the hardest thing to do. I HATE felt with a passion. Its itchy and weird and gets fluff everywhere. Luckily after I got the shape I wanted down I found some stiff felt that would hold its shape. It didn't fray and did much better than regular felt.

That’s about it. Hope you like it, he was a lot of fun to make!

Thanks for that! He is really creepy staring at me from my desk. It was based of a friends character, even though the fear factor a drawing can produce can't be matched with crochet; I'm glad the cute feel of crochet didn't overpower the intention of the piece. He came out pretty good I'm happy with it

Thank you so much! I thought you might

I am really happy with the skull, I've never used felt in this way especially to make a 3D skull. If I make more felt things like this I will use the stiffer felt again. It holds it's shape and it didn't get fibers everywhere.
