Description
This alternate history infobox was inspired by my deviation "World Flags map - If the borders were drawn by me " and is a 20th birthday present for TimzUneeverse . In this timeline, Finland is overrun by the Soviets in the Continuation War, and is subsequently annexed into the Karelo-Finnish SSR. Petsamo also remains part of Finland, although the Kola Peninsula (comprising the Murmansk Oblast) remained part of the Russian SFSR. The Karelo-Finnish SSR was dissolved in July 1991 after Finland regained its independence. Finland is currently a developed country, although slightly poorer than its OTL counterpart. There is a significant Russian minority like in the Baltic states, including the country's Prime Minister Artur Parfenchikov. In addition, Finland is in this timeline a NATO member (although Sweden, as in our timeline, does not join NATO), having joined in March 2004 alongside Bulgaria, Slovenia, and the Baltic states.
