I think almost every relationship has its difficulties and somehow comes to a testing phase.. still, its often not the difficulties themselve but the way both partners decide to solve them (or not) which decide if the relationship continues or not.. you know we wanna see them back together somehow

she's a flame/ flare while the boy is the wax. Basically a candle. She needs him to stay alive, but destroys or hurts him in the process. at least that's how I interpret it Β

I understood that, but that doesn't explain the artistic reason why she no longer wears the dress she had in early sketches while the boy didn't lose the shorts too

i'm guessing you mean the image: Melt my Heart, where she is connected to the candle its left, Ii don't really know I think she consumed it like she did with the candle, and was doing to Icarus. my guess is the the artist will make her fade too as he did with the dress, to give it an alternative ending or he'll follow the mythology and have Icarus sufferΒ

I am indeed referring to that one, as far as I've seen it's the first image he made after the initial doodle that had them in this more realistic style. I felt like the dress made of flames really added a lot to the overall fire look, and while I'm starting to notice that the boy also had more clothing around his torso too I assume the artist didn't feel like it added much, which I agree with and therefore, who cares.Β
One guess is that he was simplifying the designs, and that the hair was already doing the same job visually that the dress was doing so out it went. But if nude bodies were an easier thing to draw for the artist than clothes, then why did the boy's shorts stay, especially since they don't add to his melting visual effect like his wings do?

That's part of my point, is that I'm not asking the "logical" or "in-universe" reason for it, I'm asking the author for what artistic purpose he's decided to do this.

well, its possible that Icarus was sculpted that way by someone, and the artist that sculpted him decided he should have pants.Β
In a world where there is a living personification of the sun, I wouldn't look past the possibility that Icarus is a living model that was sculpted by someone.
Though, I'm not entirely sure, there is nothing I can find that supports this, but it kinda makes sense.

While that's certainly interesting in-story speculation, the original question is directed at the artist, and has to do with his artistic reasoning behind it, because I doubt there's an in-universe reason that he's thought of yet, so I don't want him to just think of one on the spot for my sake; what I actually want to know is why he changed his mind on that artistic decision.Β
