This is a beautiful fanart... I just recently thought about how misconceived Snape as a character was... His only friend and love of his life Lily married his arch enemy James; then she dies and all that is left of her is her son Harry, who just looks like James... Looking back, I can totally understand why Snape behaved the way he did.
I think you did a great job on capturing his inner conflict

i read all the books. i saw every part of snape's life up until his death and i still think he's an awful person.
but i'm talking about SNAPE here. not the actor who played him.
It tore me apart when I found out about his passing.

I'm not saying that Snape's antagonistic behavior is justified by his past, but made understandable. He is not just the evil potion teacher who hates the protagonist so that more sympathy is shoved towards Harry, but a very complex and deep character - surely flawed, but that makes him interesting in the first place.
But that is of course a matter of personal interpretation and preference.

I just can't ignore that he mistreated Hermoine and Neville very badly. I can't ignore the way he treated everyone that wasn't Lily or Slytherin related.
