Love itself.
I'm not scared of being not loved back because I told a guy I liked him. Β He turned me down but being the person I am I didn't really care. Β I can't force someone to love me, and I never would want to. Β Love is scary because it can hurt. Β I know because I've had friends, that would come to me after a breakup or I would see random students upset because their BF/GF cheated on them(using both because both genders can cheat, plus idk if their gay or straight 
So love is a scary thing...

Haunted with whimsy, vibrating with a delightful ecstasy that made his lungs as barren and as hungry as a desert. Had there been a time when they- when he - was solid? He almost couldn't recall. Her very presence muddied his mind, pulling him deep into an abyss of pure light.Β
Where she was warm.Β
Where she was serene.
Where she was nothing but elation and acceptance.Β
But for all its glory, it was the one place...
...where he wasn't safe.Β
He knew he wasn't safe.Β
And deep inside, he suspected she did, too.Β
But there was nothing he would rather have than this.Β
This.
Holding the curves of her face in his hands. Resting her head in his lap. Playing and tempting her lips, softly first, and then passionately, until she burned so bright he could hardly see or think. He could only feel , and try to preserve the sensations in his memory. The little drops of wax collected in tiny tears that he somehow kept away from his parched eyes. He was a flower, drenched and smothered in dew. And she, his sun.Β
His beautiful, radiant sun. He couldn't get enough of her.Β
Yes, Icarus swore. There was nothing he would trade her for. There was nothing he would trade them for.
Except, maybe, a new heart for himself.Β
A heart of stone. Β
One that wouldn't drift slowly away into a puddle of bliss every time she made it beat so fervently against his chest.Β
He was tangled up in her flames, enchanted by her beauty, and he had never in his life been happier. And yet, Icarus was afraid .
So afraid that he could do nothing but bury himself in light, and pretend everything was okay, and ignore the warning signs he saw plastered everywhere he went.Β
Nothing is real unless you make it so. Nothing is real unless you believe it is so. Β
Icarus lost himself wandering the golden flecks in her eyes.
He could go days without eating, if it meant his starving limbs could hold her as he was now.Β
But he was terrified.Β
Not of her, but of him, of what he was, of what he could not help but be.Β
He was only a candle.
And one day, he would dissolve, and there would be nothing left of him to love her with.Β
