Description
If anyone were ever to ask me this question of who my favorite character from Ninja Turtles (in general) was, that would be the rat dad himself Master Splinter. Since I grew up on the 2003 version and not the 87 version, I was more familiar with Splinter always being a rat and not a human. In fact this is how it was in the original comics as well and in pretty much all the movies (including the Michael Bay ones), they stick with him alway being a rat. But when the 87 version first came out, it was clearly a show meant for kids and they obviously couldn't have anyone die in the show, so they just took Yoshi and Splinter and mash the two together, hence why in that one he starts off human. Which I take slight umbrage with... I know the 2012 one takes this same idea but adds more to it, but I'm not going to touch on that.Just sticking with the 2003 version, the way I see it and this is where my love of TMNT really shines through (no matter how sappy it sounds) is that what I always loved about Splinter is how he started off as just another lonely rat. But then was given a home by Tang Shen and Yoshi, learn the ways of ninjutsu and the importance of family, even if it was being taught to him directly. Then only to have it all taken away from him when Shedder killed Yoshi. However he's then given a second chance at family when he finds the turtles and rises them as his own. Knowing the world to be a very hostile place that would not be so understanding of them as mutants, it's no wonder he trains them in ninjutsu since it's what he knows best and is the only way for his sons to be able to defend themselves. Even than, that still doesn't stop his protective parent side from showing when danger comes around. Gotta give him props; being a single parent of four boys is not and easy task. This is probably why he meditates a lot.

Yassss! 8DDD All hail Rat Dad! XB Splinter is my most favourite character in TMNT. 83 I absolutely loved him in the 2007 movie, personally. 83 I thought the voice actor for Splinter was perfect, personally. 8B I was more familiar with him being a rat, not a human, too. I prefer that more personally, since it would fit in with the TMNT mutating and all. 8B Splinter is the best dad, honestly. I think he did really well raising four boys by himself and to have taught them as well as he had done, too. 8)

Finally some feedback on this. And yes, I'm a total nerd for Papa Rat. Splinters voice in the 2007 movie always reminded me of Aku a little bit.
Yeah, the always being a rat made more sense to me that him being human at one point. (Well as far a show about mutant talking ninja turtles and a rat go.) I get it, they didn't want to show death to kids in the 87 version, but it does lead to some confusion now. But raising four boys on your own is not an easy task. I feel he deserves more credit for that.

Yasss. XBB I wanted to do it so much sooner but least I got to it. XDD Hahaha And ysuhhh same here! XD And yushhh I thought the same thing but I still likes it. XBB Haha
Yeah, I totally agree with you there. XD I mean, I'm open to others' interpretations and such, but I like to chose things that seem to make more sense or is more believable. ....that makes so much sense when talking about something fictional. XD Pffff Hahaha But yeah, even raising one is hard enough sometimes, so the fact he was able to do so with four? He needs more love. -.-
