Description
Well this took daaaaays to makeWork and personal matters got in the way... if they didn't, I would've inished it and uploaded it last weekend.
The drawing was supposed to be a speed-paint, then my perfectionist self got the best of me :l This took longer because I decided to use this for the tutorial.
It's supposed to be a tutorial, but I've experimented a lot on this. Like I said in the tutorial, I've used few techniques and tools that I haven't used in a long time. I felt like sharing a little info I had, hoping they would help someone make their picture better.
I realized at the end that the size of the canvas was shorter than how I wanted it to be :l I didn't want to move everything around so I left it.. it looks weird, but forgive me.
Oh yeah, ignore mispellings and bad grammers please lol I didn't want to read them over and over again.(what a boring title, too -3-..)
I am embarrassed... if those really great artists read this, I think they would laugh
I don't think this tutorial is good... In my other drawings, I had a base colour and I painted over them. Here, I did not. I'll try to make a proper tutorial next time
Well, I hope this helped you and solved a few questions you had in mind. Thanks for the view!

stop apologizing. nobody would laugh at this, its a great tut, and it helped me out. but by the time i got to the bottom and read the artist comments, i was tired of hearing you complain and apologize for your art, when you really dont need to. honestly, i wish i had this kind of talent and patience to do what you did. and your grammar is better than most. okay?

Wahhh!!! Thank you very very very much for this tut!
It's great!! And very helpful!
So, the tools you usually use are,
a hard brush?, bur tool for blending, burn tool for shadows, dodge tool for lights...
for the hair, you use a small size for details right?

Piece5113 In reply to ShinjuMarkez [2009-07-23 22:56:19 +0000 UTC]
I am glad to hear that it's helpful !!
Yeah, I usually use the hard brush but the opacity is like..50-70%. And yes, blur tool for blending, burn tool for shadows(though I do create the shadows first, then use it to make the shadows darker) and dodge tool for few places for hair. I don't use it a lot, because I feel that if you use it to much it feels kind of unnatural.
Yup~ for hair, use a tiny brush !!

My pictures usually end up color neutral at first, too, and then I just put in more color via the photoshop selective color tool haha. xDDD

I'm so happy you made a tutorial!! you usually paint on only one layer??
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Piece5113 In reply to snowp [2009-07-23 05:27:25 +0000 UTC]
I hope this helps ;_;
what I usually do is..
1)sketch
2)create another layer for colour (this includes base + shadow)
3)merge the layers and work on that layer
I guess the answer is yes?
