Description
I'm not sure how long I've been walking, now. Weeks, months... a damn long time. It's certainly been that long since I've seen another living soul. I should have listened to the Elders and just stayed back home; the Desolation is definitely not something to be taken lightly, even if the rumors are true, and there is something better on the other side.I passed through some of the ruins from the time before the Catastrophe, today. No one's been here for a long time. Nothing but prickle-bush and long-ears, now. I can't help but wonder what the people who lived here were like, if they even saw it coming... Were they aware that their world was coming to a violent, sudden end? Or did they just wake up one morning to find civilization having collapsed into a pile of gleaming bones, baking in the heat of a sun more vicious than any they'd ever known? Was this place a desert before? It could have been a beach town, and the bowl of the Desolation the seafloor?
I don't know. I guess I'll never know. All I can do now is keep moving forward, hoping that the rumors are true. I've come too far to go back now.
