Ever stop what you're doing and go for a picnic on a nice day?I took a little break from the stuff I’ve been working on for the past couple weeks and decided to play around with using textures in Photoshop, along with dig up an excuse to draw Giana again. With her finally getting a brand new game that isn’t a slightly different Mario clone after all these years, how could I NOT draw her again?
Seriously though, go play Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams: [link] Being one of the many people that joined in the kickstarter for it and help debug the demo, I'm really overjoyed by how awesome this game really is, especially since I honestly never expected the Giana Sisters to make another official appearance again after the DS game and iOS port. Plus, it's the first Kickstarter game I've ever funded that actually got finished, and it seems to be getting really good reviews so far. If that doesn't say something about this game, I don't know what does...

I just want to say: I ADORE the way you draw Giana, It's pretty much exactly as Pikomi would do. I'd love to see more sometime. :3

Thank you! I've always been a fan of Pikomi's concepts for the DS game; they're full of whimsy and are a lot of fun to look at, yet he still made room for subtlety when the artwork called for it. It's something I ended up really missing when Twisted Dreams went with a more realistic style, but their new concept artists have really been knocking it out of the park lately with the new projects they've been working on, so I'm excited to see where they go next.
I wouldn't mind drawing more of Giana at all, although I've been thinking I might try a slightly different style with them and mix things up a bit. We'll see...

I haven't had the chance to check the game out, but I'll take a look at it when I get my laptop back.
As for the image itself, I love it. Reminds me of some old preschool shows I used to see. Great work.

It's like Yoshi's Story/Kirby's Epic Yarn. Couldn't really imagine you reproduce it so well.

I'm honestly really surprised by how well this turned out too, especially since this was just a first time test with using textures like this. There is some problems with the shadows in this version though, but I just don't have time right now to fix them...
And yes, definitely check out the game sometime, and be quick about it! Last I saw, it's on sale everywhere it's been released at 10% off, but it may be set back to it's standard price of around $15 by now. Although I honestly haven't had the time yet to play it much either thanks to how busy I've been recently, but I've been listening to the incredible OST for the game in the meantime.
