Description

This is my take on a potential scenario where all three superpowers in 1984 collapsed. I based it on OneHellofaBird ’s take on the “Rise of the Tri-State World Order” scenario by SpanishSpy. Most people theorise the eternal war will go on,but this map aims to answer “What if it didn’t?”. All three superpowers have collapsed,either because of popular rebellions,an purge that decapitates the goverment or an civil war that evolves into a nuclear one. While the dreadful “eternal war” may be over,there are many remnants of the superpowers,which continue to destroy the people and land inside it. Considerable damage to Earth has been already done,as there exists entire swathes of land where civilization has retreated from. An bittersweet ending,but a really bitter one at that. Also,there is no legend,but i wrote an general overview of every region in the world,which mentions most of the countries.

The World’s General Situation:

OCEANIA:

British Isles:

Winston’s wishes came true,but liberation has not reached Airstrip One. Bombardment by Eurasians(nowadays it is the air force remnants based on Brest,but it doesn’t really make any difference for the civillians bombed) still continues,and the general starvation of the populace has shifted from trying to destroy surplus value to actually trying to survive. IRA’s takeover of Ireland has not made things any better.

Canada and Alaska:

It is not inaccurate to say that most of Canada is under complete anarchy. Most of Oceanian research and military facilities were abandoned following the Oceanic collapse. Alaska however has managed to keep itself intact,still holding the damned souls inside it.

The West Coast:

West Coast hosts the two Oceanic remnants,which is California and Nevada-Utah Special Research Zone.(California has a different name offically,but it is referred as California colloquially). California immediately recalled all soldiers it could contact,and retreated. NUSRZ is too busy using the shiny new weapons on its’ own populace.

The Midwest:

Like Canada,some parts of Midwest are in anarchy. The reason why i left that space empty is that no state big enough to be shown there exist,as it is composed of small city-states and big swathes of empty land in-between. This is not to say that civilization has ceased to exist here. Up north,an cult based in Dakota emerged,winning the people’s hearts with providing food and other necessities. Quickly,it expanded to become the one of most powerful states on the continent.

The East Coast:

East Coast hosts the biggest Oceanic remnant that is based on the American speedtrain line,which has completely kicked the bucket.(It barely worked during the Oceania days,but now the entire project is scrap)The collapse was almost unnoticed by the populace,which is being continuously tricked into thinking Oceania is still kicking around. South is a completely different story. During the Oceanic Collapse,several militas based around the South and Carribean rose up,and established their little states with the authority collapsing. However,these communities were not self-sufficient,and often fell into shortages of even the most basic resources. Confederate States of America was crafted out by a group of these statelets,with some other joining after. During the search for an identity to name this state,it was learned about a slaveholder state in 19’th century,which the country quickly adapted to awaken some sort of national identity other than hatred for Oceanians. Desipte this,the only similarity between the current and 19’th century CSA is their name.

Mexico and Texas:

The maquiladoras are still running,and with even worse conditions! The owners of these facilites are pocketing all the wealth to themselves,and slowly began to build “mansion-cities” on the what remaining nature the Oceanians didn’t have time to ahhinilate. They did not get to enjoy much of these profits during Oceania days,so they are very glad that Oceania croaked. Texas on the other hand is a failed imitation of Pre-Pelley United States,which has built their ideology by doing the opposite of whatever Oceania did.

Central America:

The ethnic cleansing is still going on,answering to Airstrip One or not. Central American Pacification Authority’s general states that it will personally bring back order to the entirety of The Americas,though looking at their situation can prove that this is bluff. The ammo will run out eventually.

Colombia,Venezuella and Guyana:

Oceania’s grip over South America was never really strong compared to its’ other territories. Order was kept mostly by strongmen which obeyed Airstrip One,and when A1 vanished,so did the strongmen. These regions were the first to be liberated,which several socialist(Not Kaganovichite!) republics were founded. What is interesting is that some Free French remnants somehow holded on,and took over Guyana. They are extremely xenophobic,and talking with a Free French soldier may make someone think they are talking with someone from a different dimension.

Andes:

The genocide that happened on Peruvian soil is being constantly reminded to Peruvians,which gave the justification to Shining Path to found a Inca-NeoBolshevist hybrid system. Despite claiming to be Neo Bolshevist,Shining Path would get immediately be exectued for revisionism on Moscow.

La Plata:

A considerable chunk of the Oceanic navy was located at Chile,which was underfunded and underequipped compared to California. Thus,the navy is trying to keep order on decreipt ships. In order to not fall prey to insurgents,Oceanian remnants made several deals with Colonia Dignidad-type organisations,which are popping up all over the country. To the east of them is Republic of La Plata,which is making tribunals for everyone involved withn the INGSOC regime. These tribunals have never ended with anything other than a death penalty,which involve bizarre and painful execution methods. In fact,the goverment is paying for the development of new wacky execution methods to be used. One of these inventions are the “Multi-Person Guillotine”,which can be used to execute 5 people in one drop. This persecution was seen by the raiders,which moved north to Paraguay where they continue to raid Brazil and Upper Chile.

Brazil:

Oceanian remnants are getting their ass kicked.

South Africa:

Oceania’s mass repression of its’ African populace led to the creation of a ultranationalist anti-colonial ideology,which has catched on in other African states. The surviving white populace,along with some INGSOC personell refounded Transvaal to defend itself from being genocided.

Australia:

It did not take too long before Australia died with Oceania itself. Partisans and disgruntled soldiers rushed to topple Big Brother,which has been cornered to the southeast. The final push by the resistance will be their undoing.

AFRASIA:

Central Africa:

Most authority here immediately imploded and reduced it to a conglomerate of tribal/mercenary states. The entire region,save for Angola and INGSOC remnants have regressed societally and technologically. There are some nice states,but these are bordered by cannibal rapist fiefdoms.

Ethiopian Empire:

Ethiopia was one of the last countries to not fall into one of the three blocs that emerged and went. Big celebrations are being held in the entire country,which is well-deserved. Ethiopia also managed to snatch a big zone of influence for themselves,which makes them a considerable power in this new age.

West Africa:

Free France has reemerged after 3 powers kicked the bucket. DeGaulle has died,meaning that the delusions lowered a bit. They are planning to take over West Africa,then France,then the maximum extent of Napoleon’s empire. They border United Tuareg States and West African Federation,which is a Islamic theocracy and democracy respectively. France actually trades a lot with these states,as West Africa are one of the places who recovered better after global collapse of the world order. Of course,not all is well. Oceanian remnants based on Nigeria regularly harass them. There being no Eurasians does not matter.

North Africa:

Millions of Eurasian soliders became stranded in a continent they were never supposed to step in. One could expect them to rush the Sahara to find someone to shoot at,but the absence of the Eurasian state left them alone and without any supplies. Contact with Eurasian navy could be made,which agreed to transport them home. Next to them is a Libya that relies on illegal trade as it’s main source of income. Most infastracture to extract oil was destroyed during the war,thus leaving the state unable to exploit it.

Middle East:

al-Husseini died during guerilla fighting. An officer cabal renamed The Caliphate to Arab United Republic,turning the Islamic state into a secular one. This does not mean that it won’t become friends with more religious powers. The positive relations between Islamist Democrat Turkey and AUR is the primary example of this. The friendship between the two will ultimately evolve into a combined operation aganist Kurdish SSR that has been split off from Moscow.

Indian Subcontient:

India was trampled upon for centuries,which its’ diversity in ethnicity and religion was used extensively to divide and exploit it. When the beaten and bruised body of India was finally left alone,it struggled to get up. Removing the putrid propaganda that has been injected to Indian populace will take a long time,an even now the infection is showing itself. Federal Republic of India is more than welcome to give ethnic groups inside it autonomy,as long as it keeps them in,but this has not prevented all insurgencies and seperations. Rajahstan,Dravidia and Kashmir are just naming a few.

EURASIA:

Iberia:

Eurasia’s sudden demise left the parties adjacent to the state free to take any measures to secure their rule. The collapse of general authority was almost unnoticed in Portugal,which exploited the robust navy gifted by Moscow to raid African states,France or sometimes even Airstrip One. This cannot be stated for Spain,as it is currently undergoing attacks by both anti-Kaganovichite and Andalusian forces. Catalan SSR is aware that whoever wins will threaten them next,and thus ensures the conflict will go on as long as possible. Andalusians are winning? Send these guns to Madrid immediately!

France:

Fall of Paris,and France overall signified Eurasia’s control over Europe as a whole. Elder Brother Kaganovich spesifically demanded that the communist party of France be indoctrinated extra tightly. This indoctrination was broadcasted on live television all over Europe. Most records of the affair has been lost,but looking at the remnants located at Paris can tell you that it was not a pleseant experience for them. With Eurasia’s collapse,some ingrained hatred that the indoctrination was not able to remove has resurfaced,and the state’s demigod is something called “The Revolution” now. During this change,an civil war begun,which are the Anti-Kaganovichites who are slowly winning.

Italy:

Turin and Genoa are run by Eurasian navy,which used to transport soldiers to the African front when Eurasia was a thing. Nowadays,they are preparing to take whatever soldiers survived in Algeria and leave the god-forsaken continent once and for all. Next to them is a rump Italian SSR and a religious theocracy.

Germany:

On German territory there lies two major states. Zentraleuropa,which is the leftover goons of Kaganovich and Confederation of German States,an young attempt at democracy. Of course,reintroducing a system to country that has not experienced it for 60 years is no easy business. Everyone has different ideas on how things should be run,and the inexperienced senate is filled with idealists whose proposals range from somewhat plausible to delusional pipe dreams. This incoherent process must be fixed,or else the peoples of Germany will find themselves worshipping Elder Brother Kaganovich once again.

Scandinavia:

Eurasian navy that bombed Scotland are in Denmark and upper Norway. Sapmi peoples and Sweden managed to break free,but Finland’s tale is far more tragic. Kaganovich’s gift to Finland,Kareila,was much appreciated by Finns. when Eurasian Civil War begun,it took the Kola peninsula as well. The Russian population withn the Finnish borders were first evicted,and then murdered under the guise of “evacuation”.

Austria and Switzerland:

While Switzerland was no more on the Eurasian papers,on reality the region was administered by scientists brought all over from the country. These mostly focused on airplane and nuclear development. Heavily fortified,Alpine Research Zone was safe from falling to any kind of insurgency. Austria has removed any mention of socialism or Kaganovich,and is a basic fascist dictatorship. They don’t call themselves fascist though.

Eastern Europe:

Emmanuel Goldstein lived long enough to see Poland liberated. Extensive reconstruction programs are under the way,which seeks to reunify Poland to it’s 1939 borders. The former Polish territory also hosts Children’s Villages,which was abandoned following Kaganovich’s death. It is unclear what occurs withn these camps,but several Polish patrols mention children fighting alongside adults. These children are often under the influence of drugs,sometimes on lethal doses,and the ones who were rescued refer the place as hell. This hellcamp is under protection by Zentraleuropa’s Prussian branch. Baltics united to keep Eurasia away from them,if they ever come at all. Ukraine is divided between West Ukraine Liberation front and Ukrainian SSR(Most Eurasian brainwashing facilites were here),which attack each other,but both sides are unable to progress beyond the Dnieper.

Balkans:

The primary major power in the Balkans is Hungary,which was a former SSR before breaking off. Despite their independence,the goverment has remained completely unchanged. Budapest has introduced some racial garble which can remind you of Nuremberg laws to the classic Neo-Bolshevist doctrine,which puts them at the top of a caste system while Slovaks,Romanians,Gypsies,etc. are on the bottom. Between them and Romania is where the Carpathian Special Research Zone is located. The other states are basic nation-states which attempt to revive their cultures. However,with what Eurasians have left them,the recreated culture is extremely distant from OTL,and can be referred as cargo cults.

Russia:

Well,how did all of this happen? Why is Europe such a clusterfuck? To understand why,we need to go 2 years ago,to 1991 when Kaganovich died. The new General Secretary immediately ordered a wide purge,which incapacitated the Eurasian goverment. An opposition quickly rose up,and so did civil war. During the fighting,the entirety of Eurasia turned into a fish out of water. Like Europe itself,Russia also fractured. From demented monarchs of the Empire of Siberia(Shown in gray) to democrats of Yakutia(Shown in green),an general death of the concept of “Russia” is evident. Oh,also there is Oceanians stuck on Chutoka.

Caucasus:

Caucasus is composed of three major states. The heavily-fortified Mountain Republic,the horribly corrupt Georgia and Eurasian fanatics-turned-mercenaries Azerbaijan.

Central Asia:

The extreme persecution of religion was returned with extreme religious zealotry,which was generously funded by Oceania’s propaganda arm. Islamic Republic of Kazakhstan is closed to everyone who is not Muslim.

EASTASIA:

China:

The current state of China,and the collapse of Eastasia can be attributed to one man,Yang Shengji. Exploiting the famine that occured on the western suburbs of China to launch an uprising,which spread all over the country. You can think of it as a second Taiping Rebellion. The Realm of White Goddess and Eastasia went long enough that two powers launched their nuclear arsenals,unofficially ending the war. Battles are still going on,but both remnants are covered by warlords who promise that they are on their side. Some sides are completely apathetic to each side,such as Guangzhou’s opium traders. Ethnic republics have broken off during this,such as Tibet(though they still practice Death Worship),Mongolia,Turkestan and Hokkaido. Manchurian territories suddenly seceded from Eastasia,taking over Korea and Outer Manchuria meanwhile. The Korean and Russian populations were immediately droven to slavery,and the Empire of Manchuria was reproclaimed.

Mongolia:

The People’s Republic of Mongolia(Shown in brown) is preparing for a one last war with the Eastasian warlord of Mengjiang. Who will rule the steppes?

Japan:

Japan’s economy was always interlinked with the rest of Eastasia from the start. When the food convoys from China stopped arriving,the region fell into a second Sengoku Jidai. Imagine samurais with Type 35 rifles.

Southeast Asia:

Some remnants of Eastasia was spared from the war,continuing as if the glorious state was still present. Thailand has created a new branch of the Obliteration of Self,and held nations around it hostage. Vietnam has been taken over by militias,which have banned any kind of religion or opium coming from all sides.

Indonesia and Philippines:

The entire region is a battleground between Oceanian remnants,Eastasian settlers and natives. Everyone is fighting for their own lives,basically

Russia:

Well,how did all of this happen? Why is Europe such a clusterfuck? To understand why,we need to go 2 years ago,to 1991 when Kaganovich died. The new General Secretary immediately ordered a wide purge,which incapacitated the Eurasian goverment. An opposition quickly rose up,and so did civil war. During the fighting,the entirety of Eurasia turned into a fish out of water. Like Europe itself,Russia also fractured. From demented monarchs of the Empire of Siberia(Shown in gray) to democrats of Yakutia(Shown in green),an general death of the concept of “Russia” is evident. Oh,also there is Oceanians stuck on Chutoka.

Caucasus:

Caucasus is composed of three major states. The heavily-fortified Mountain Republic,the horribly corrupt Georgia and Eurasian fanatics-turned-mercenaries Azerbaijan.

Central Asia:

The extreme persecution of religion was returned with extreme religious zealotry,which was generously funded by Oceania’s propaganda arm. Islamic Republic of Kazakhstan is closed to everyone who is not Muslim.

EASTASIA:

China:

The current state of China,and the collapse of Eastasia can be attributed to one man,Yang Shengji. Exploiting the famine that occured on the western suburbs of China to launch an uprising,which spread all over the country. You can think of it as a second Taiping Rebellion. The Realm of White Goddess and Eastasia went long enough that two powers launched their nuclear arsenals,unofficially ending the war. Battles are still going on,but both remnants are covered by warlords who promise that they are on their side. Some sides are completely apathetic to each side,such as Guangzhou’s opium traders. Ethnic republics have broken off during this,such as Tibet(though they still practice Death Worship),Mongolia,Turkestan and Hokkaido. Manchurian territories suddenly seceded from Eastasia,taking over Korea and Outer Manchuria meanwhile. The Korean and Russian populations were immediately droven to slavery,and the Empire of Manchuria was reproclaimed.

Mongolia:

The People’s Republic of Mongolia(Shown in brown) is preparing for a one last war with the Eastasian warlord of Mengjiang. Who will rule the steppes?

Japan:

Japan’s economy was always interlinked with the rest of Eastasia from the start. When the food convoys from China stopped arriving,the region fell into a second Sengoku Jidai. Imagine samurais with Type 35 rifles.

Southeast Asia:

Some remnants of Eastasia was spared from the war,continuing as if the glorious state was still present. Thailand has created a new branch of the Obliteration of Self,and held nations around it hostage. Vietnam has been taken over by militias,which have banned any kind of religion or opium coming from all sides.

Indonesia and Philippines:

The entire region is a battleground between Oceanian remnants,Eastasian settlers and natives. Everyone is fighting for their own lives,basically
