"At 1:00 AM,1 January 2004,half of all lifeforms would vanish off from the face of Earth,causing massive blackouts and famines across the world. This event would be known as “The Rapture” which would change the face of Earth forever. Entire regions would become uninhabited due to famines,and many species would go extinct. Many nations of the world would fall into anarchy,as the disappearence of %50 of world’s population would cripple every state. Healthcare and law enforcement would become non-existent. It seemed as the apocalypse that many feared had finally happened.

But as time went on,the survivors slowly began to rebuild their societies and countries. America,once the sole hegemon of the world,would emerge as a shell of it’s former self,as it’s unification efforts were stalled by various forces. Federated States of America,established in the Northwest,would be the strongest competitor goverment,meanwhile Sons of Elijah,an religious cult that rose to prominence,despite it’s infamy,would capture most of the South. Various seperatist movements also managed to claim independence,such as Texas and Nevada,which would soon under fall into dictatorial strongmen. California Republic was mostly spared of this fate,and democracy is still intact. Most of these states still trade with each other,but the 4 States region,who remains in anarchy to this day,may bring these new nations to war. But over all,order in America has been mostly restored.

Russia however was not so lucky. The Rapture would immediately render swathes of Siberia uninhabitable,leaving most cities into starvation. Knowing that Moscow was not going to save them,miniority republics of Russia declared independence,and soon several Siberan states followed.The two major republics,West Siberia and Central Siberia would battle economically to pull these states into joining them,meanwhile Far East struggled with establishing order. Far Eastern Republic,suprisingly,refused annexation requests by Jewish Autonomous Oblast,Amur Federation and surviving Far Eastern towns,trying to save what little resources they had,leading to the establishment of Far East Survival Committee. Emergence of a radical christian cult in St.Petersburg and following areas have only made the situation worse.

Down in Asia,things were a little better. Most surviving members of the CCP retreated to North of the Yellow River,meaning that most of Manchuria were safe during The Rapture. However,this meant the rest of the country was left to its own devices,and soon seperatists and dissidents occupied much of the country. CCP’s inaction caused Yunnan’s governor to cut all ties from Beijing,creating a rival goverment in Kunming, Many dissidents,mainly from those of Taiwan after its collapse,found themselves here,preparing to reclaim China meanwhile Sichuan proclaimed neutrality. Meanwhile,the coastal cities of Hong Kong,Guangzhou and Macau were mysteriously saved by an paramilitary backed by megacorporations. This new force would soon expand to the entirety of Guangdong province. Guangxi would not be so lucky however,as it fell to a brutal crime syndicate. The Gansu and Qinghai provinces would declare independence as the anarcho-capitalist “Republic of Great Harmony”. On the North,an second Taiping Heavenly Kingdom would be proclaimed.

India too fell into civil wars with socialist and religious insurgents on its own,meanwhile Pakistan fractured. Many nations of the Middle East went into isolationism,and Europe split apart between “Rationalist” and “Fundamenalist” blocs. Africa would return into small bickering kingdoms,with some few Pre-Rapture states preserving. 10 years later,it still seems that the world will never heal from The Rapture."
