To Sarah's protests that it was objectifying and humiliating that she had been made to preside over the holiday dressed in the black feather costume , Jareth countered with the shuddering reminder of what had happened the one year he had been too distracted* to remember to fix the Clucktoberfest Queen contest and Skeep had finally had their day of triumph in the sequins and papier-mâché nugget-bucket-crown. Irreconciliable differences of opinion couched in words like"adorable" and "c*ck-witheringly disturbing image", as well as "(your own) petard", and "mental scarring" were traded every year in the lead-up to the holiday.

At least it must be noted that, shortly after Skeep's unexpected but much-celebrated victory, The Once and Future Queen Sarah had gotten to redesign the Clucktoberfest Queen outfit in a style she deemed somewhat less tacky and personally irritant, as the original creation by the Goblin King had been Bogged and set on fire by the latter - simultaneously, an interesting physical phenomenom, which had also occurred with an alacrity near-disastrous to the blissed-out nugget-gorged Goblin victor wearing it until the clock struck thirteen that Clucktoberfest Day. Skeep did succeed in clinging to, and thus saving, their wig from this act of creator regret.

The Goblins overall were delighted by the sheer chaos that grew around the Clucktoberfest Queening vote once the notion of a democratic choice (and its benefits, ie extra generous handouts by a very happy Bossladyqueen, and a very entertainingly ticky-mad Kingy) had been made fabulously apparent to them by Skeep's (first) victory**; in the following years the overt bribery, extravagant campaigning pageantry, public brawls of opposing factions*** and shows of royal chicanery became part of the traditional excitement and pleasant anticipatory lead-in to the holiday, a high point of which soon became the reveal of not only who had won the crown but also what exactly they were wearing, depending on who had gotten the final word or spell on the Clucktoberfest Queen's regalia.

**Most historians agree to number this event among the early signs of the coming Reforms of The Champion Queen, but some of them still get very embarrassed about the details.
