I did this totally under the visual 'fluence of that high-watermark of JS fanart that is: [link] by the exquisitely talented *phuriedae (who is ever encouraging of this sort of fangirl caper)Commissioned by Nikita, who asked for vaguely GND-ish fluff and got overtones of adult-type touching as an unexpected extra. (ZOMG NO GLOVES!!!1!)
Yeah. I think either one's concentration is gonna give out soon.
(and yes, I DO really like sticking Sarah in His Majesty's fluffy shirts. What of it?)

Sarah had only been living in the Labyrinth for a few weeks when it happened. She had been out in the garden with a few fairies hovering 'round her, trying to use magic to grow flowers for them--Jareth had told her she had magic damn it, just nothing seemed to work!
It was during the fourth try or so that the flowerpot had literally exploded in her face, ruining her dress and scaring away the biting fairies. Slightly smoking black mud oozed out across the ground in front of her.
"Okay, so I am a failure! I can't even help something grow!"
It seemed less than a minute passed and Jareth was there, picking her up--muddying his pristine jacket and shirt--and calmly carrying her back to the Castle Beyond the Goblin City. Normally Sarah would have made a terrible fuss, but she didn't think she could even do that properly if she couldn't make a simple plant sprout--and she snuffled her story out to him as he "hmm'd" and "ah'd" at her.
He deposited her, dress and all, straight into a waiting tub of water. The jolt of heat broke Sarah from her reverie and she quietly cleaned herself up as Jareth went about the room, grabbing a clean shirt and laying it on the bed as well as slipping out of his dirtied jacket and shirt.
Sarah subtly watched him as he did these minor chores--and knew, somehow, that he was not watching or spying on her.
"Jareth?" His eyes met hers from across the room. "Could you help me get this dress unfastened? It's all stuck together because it's wet," Sarah bit her tongue on the because you didn't bother to help me out of it before you put me in the bath. Those sorts of comments were completely unhelpful in any sort of relationship--he had taught her that years ago, but she hadn't learned the lesson completely until she had nearly forgotten Jareth himself.
"Of course, Sarah."
After gently unfastening each tie and tiny button, Jareth left her to her bath--after dropping one of his crystals into it. Sarah found the bath to be empty of grime and piping hot yet again.
Jareth did not bother her, neither with his presence nor his lack of his usual shirt. Sarah noticed, out of the corner of her eye, that he had a smudge of black mud on his right cheek. He seemed to not notice either the streak or her--his attention was focused on what he looked out over out of his window.
"Jareth?"
"Yes?"
"Is my magic the same as yours, or does it not work that way?"
"Your magic is the same as mine, Sarah, created with words and dreams and imagination."
Sarah got up very carefully out of the tub of her bath and dried herself off, watching her Goblin King as he steadily gazed out into the distance. She didn't bother rooting around in one of the large chests for another dress, but grabbed the long white poet's shirt Jareth had laid on the bed--and put it on like it was her own.
"Then how come I can't use it?"
"Because you haven't learned how, dearest Sarah." Sarah of years before would have protested at how unfair it was--he had handed her something useful but not taught her how to use it!
"Will you teach me, Jareth?" At her words Jareth turned, smiling, and opened his arms invitingly. Sarah only too willingly stepped toward him.
When she had settled into his arms, his bare chest pressed warmly to her back, between his legs, his hands resting on her hips--Jareth spoke softly into her ear, "Sarah, I will only play this game so long as you have the patience to finish it."

I saw this and knew I had to write a fic in the comments for it...it was just one of those necessary things for a picture like this ^_^
I am glad I seem to have hit it sort of spot on, it was just what popped into my head and wouldn't leave me alone...And it was pushing out all sorts of things I needed--like Hamlet for my Shakespeare test--so I had to write it all out or lose both the story and plotpoints from uber-long plays from years and years ago...
There was more as to him doing the actual "teaching," all the technicalities for how the magic works--but that was both unneeded detail, overkill, and would have ruined the story: the point of the story isn't to tell how Jareth's magic works, the fact that we don't really know is what makes it even more magical, the point of the story is to be dead cute ^_^
