It's pretty much pink and black and in the show they are dark purple violet blue metal (Outside of the silver ones)! So hard to do that on a toy!

I just got my Vehicon, Karl. He's so flippin' awesome! You flip the tail of the car in, then you flip[ the rearview mirror in, then you flip the hood in
And there's no weird backpiece and...and...I've got to stop fangirling XD

Quite a random comment considering Karl is the car Vehicon (as far as I know) and this photo is about the jet version of them~
Anyways, have fun fangirling

Just remember tracing is only good for practice, not actually the finished work that you can claim as your own. Otherwise it's plagiarism unless permission is asked and gotten from the original artist/s

They're fast and the package is very well protected. Only bad side is the extra high shipping costs because of it.

AAAAHHHHH!! Wantee!!
He'd look great beside my ST-3V3.
On the subject of painting, can you tell me what sort of paint is best for these jobs? I'm planning to get a Knock Out and paint on all the missing detail. (It would be nice to touch up my Ratchet too, so he looks more like the real Prime medic.) I've never tried anything like it before though and wouldn't want to mess it up. I'm in the UK so overseas brand names may not be much help. I just need to know the generic name of the paint, if anyone can tell me, please...

GO BUYYYY!! heh!
I've used simply acrylics. I have tested "Winsor & Newton" on RotF Soundwave and the black was pretty damn smooth and attached well itself onto the plastic. But those are expensive also. I think every hobby shop should have acrylics or other types of paint to use on plastic What you also would need is very good brushes, and I prefer synthetic ones because they stay in shape even when wet. Which makes them better for accurate painting.

Many thanks - I've noted all that down. Need to get into town on Friday and I know where there's a craft shop, so will go and have a look.
Cheers - I appreciate the help!

Remember, when you paint, the paint is fragile and will chip away if not careful enough. That also depends of your technique There's also spray stuff and such that will give glossy finish.

Ah, right - so I only paint the parts that aren't going to see too much wear. Thanks - I wouldn't have thought of that.
(Can't afford a GR3G at the moment - have just ordered a Revoltech Starscream... But he's on my list for next after Knock Out!)

pika In reply to Alestrel [2012-08-14 22:09:09 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, it's no use trying to paint balljoint parts for example. They are more or less visible but the moment you want to change the pose or something it'll just crumble off, depending where the parts are in contact. At least that's what happened with what I tried to do with moving parts
I have uh, Starscream but he's decorated in purple o_o; If rest of him was black, I'd call him Skywarp instead lol; So he also needs paintjob! I'm going to get Knock Out when a mould is released that actually looks more like him. His shapes are hard to make into a toy though :/

Alestrel In reply to pika [2012-08-14 22:57:09 +0000 UTC]
Thanks - I will certainly bear that in mind!
... I'm confused now - you have a purple Starscream? Presumably not Animated SS then. (I'm trying to collect them all, being a cross-continuity Starscream addict. Recently managed to pick up both Armada SS's on ebay!)
Do you think they might release a better KO version? I'm VERY glad I waited to buy my ST-3V3 until the second version came out - but on the other hand I am very VERY happy I hunted down the Deluxe SS as the second version is horrible... Ach, it's difficult, and with money being tight any mistakes could be expensive...
I may risk it anyway and buy the current KO. I may be able to get him fairly cheap at the local supermarket, fingers crossed!

It's Prime Starscream, this one [link] but what I can compare from that photo and mine, the one standing on my shelf is a lot more reddish purple and.. those pink parts are pink! orz. Like the caption says on the site: "I'd be a poor man's Skywarp if I didn't cost more to import." Bhahaha
G'luck hunting KO I'll probably save munnies to get Deluxe Vehicon >:I I'm still missing Ratchet! and Arcee, and Bulkhead, and.. most =.= moo..

Alestrel In reply to pika [2012-08-14 23:55:41 +0000 UTC]
Whoa! That's the same version I have except... pink... [g] But he's kinda cute that way....
Deluxe ST-3V3 is well worth it. The roof and bonnet just folds - and folds - and folds - to make his legs, and he's missing the bulky back kibble the other version has. It's an amazing piece of design! I was gobsmacked.
I wasn't sure about Ratchet, as the pics I'd seen looked a bit unlike his Prime form, but picked him up because I just love the grumpy old fart. Mine was a devil to transform, and his right shoulder ball-joint dislocated and won't relocate properly, so he won't be spending much time as an ambulance and I'll have to be careful when I reposition his arms. But once I'd got him standing there... he's gorgeous. He has this lovely grumpy scowl, but he's sturdy and staunch and very much in character.
I can probably live without Arcee and Bulkhead, but I've just discovered an awesome Breakdown over on amazon -

... [sigh] Too much want, not enough cash...

At least Screamer and the Jet makes a good couple?
I think the jet is the first version that has come out of it, so I bet there will be better ones coming. Its roof and front folds a lot too to form the legs, I think that's a genius idea to get rid of the ugly back plates on bipedal form. The Jet still has the aft plate as an unnecessary block behind its head. What they could have done designing it was to split that part too and fold to shoulders or the mid wing thing on their back. We'll see And since I don't give a damn about their alt-modes, I'll probably end up cutting it off and finetuning it to look better when I repaint it. (And yes, I dislocated its leg when I tried to pose it XD)
Mmmmhm. Ratchet.. Damn toys! Why do I want them so bad! Soon I'll have a shelf to put them all for show.
I checked price on bigbadtoystore and the price on amazon is pretty accurate, just a few dollars more expensive. I think Breakdown's mould is pretty massive and by the looks of it, very complex. I am surprised they got him that accurate

Alestrel In reply to pika [2012-08-15 12:34:36 +0000 UTC]
They certainly do.
Hm. Not sure I want to risk waiting too long, though...
[g] They're addictive. My designated shelf is already full and they're encroaching on my (non-functional) printer, under and on top of my monitor - only the tiny Blackout and Scorponok though, the others would fall off - and my desk. Not entirely sure where I'll put the new ones.
Breakdown impressed me - looks very accurate (and I love that his hammer transforms into a tiny rhino!) If they can get him and the eradicons so accurate, why couldn't they do the same with Knock Out? So annoying.

Addiction to collect :3
What I can tell by looking at Knock Out in the series and comparing him to his toy form, I can see the first problem already coming with it: the hood. With series look, he has round shoulders that are the side of the front, which in alt-mode is a lot more straight. The toy is show accurate in that matter, but it just simply doesn't look good on robot-mode when it's following the exact curves of the vehicle. That's probably the one and only thing that pushes me away from buying the toy.
That's also the main reason I keep complaining silently in my head that Hasbro and Takara should actually do figures that can be 100% show accurate instead of transforming toys.

Face is silver, not white, and the smirk is... creepy and derpy rather than sexy. IMO anyway!

Mmmh, not a best face job there haha. I look at my mini-KO and he actually has white face! Similar smirk but somehow it looks more natural on the mini one than the link you sent. But if it was up to me, I'd rather have them with a blank expression than a smirk.
