Children never look like the parents. They maybe have something from the parents. By ponys maybe their mane color, body color or eye color. Just britgher or darker. But not the same manestyle or the same accessoires. That would be pretty stupid. Maybe you should next time say why do you find them so 'unoriginal', that's more helpful for the artist then just to say that they are unoriginal. To be honest, that sounds more like a offense as a critique.
