Robert: (Stops walking) I guess I’ll never understand what my purpose in life is, but isn’t that what life is? It’s just a series of guesses. Every choice we make is a guess. We just assume we’re right. We’re arrogant. We don’t choose to be… we don’t want to be… we just are. All we do is complain about how life isn’t perfect, but it’s just because of the poor choices we made… and sometimes the good choices too. Geez it’s cold… (Continues walking) I mean, look at me, I’m complaining right now. We always want more time. We wish the good moments will never end, and if we’re lucky, one day we’ll reach a moment that doesn’t end, but just hangs there in space for eternity. We call it a photograph. There’s 86,400 seconds in a day, and it’s never enough. So what have I accomplished? I’ve done all I can do and I have no clue if I’ve gotten anywhere at all. I may have done nothing in the scheme of things. For all I know, I’ve done the most important thing of all. And what was it? Was it beating cancer? Falling in love? Learning the truth about love? Was it that teenage kid from five minutes ago? I didn’t even know her name. I just knew she looked down. I just knew she currently is where I have been. So I made a choice. I smiled and gave her a hug. That could’ve meant nothing. That could’ve crept her out. It might just be something she remembers the rest of her life. (Stops walking) I remember when I was five, I was watching puppets on television teaching me about counting to thirteen and my grandmother came in and gave me a bowl of French vanilla ice cream. Nothing special… in fact she did it all the time while I was watching television, but this time I noticed something. I noticed how old and frail she was and that she wouldn’t be here forever. She died when I was nine, and that’s the one moment I remember her by… that insignificant, yet sweet gesture towards her only grandchild. Will someone remember me that way someday? Have I had a purpose? Will I ever have a purpose? Is this where my story ends? Begins? Or have I already started and not yet realized that the pieces are all falling into place?Related content

OLD [wo]MAN RIVER!!!
It's got its moments... I see where you're coming from, but it didn't really pull me in until the part with the grandmother. Then it was... like... wow. Cool...

Well...the idea is to build suspense right? Thanks...I'm not to good at writing monologues or prose at all...it's my first shot at it since middle school
