I wanted to try and make my own Crystal Gem Spinel because she’s my wife. This is her form after Change Your Mind. I was taking a more Kingdom Hearts-esque path, but then I realized that it doesn’t really fit the simplistic style of SU. I still think I went overboard because I have the Too Much gene.
The deal is that Spinel still gets ditched in the garden, but gets “found” by Rose Quartz and brought to Earth to join the Rebellion. She has no idea that Rose = Pink Diamond. With her relationship with Steven, I like to think she’s a mix of Amethyst and Pearl: silly and fun, but can be mature if needed (getting abandoned by her Diamond and then participating in a war really changed her). She normally doesn’t use a weapon or even fights. If she does have to fight, she’ll rely on her stretchy powers, BUT when she gets really pissed/serious, the scythe comes out (she used it a lot during the war). Other than Garnet, Spinel’s technically one of the strongest of the Crystal Gems. Like she was super friggin’ scary and angry during the war. These days though, she tries to avoid violence because she’s afraid she’ll scare Steven (and herself).
