Description
So when drawing an entirely different picture of Rarity, in need of a reference, I googled βHorse sittingβ. The resulting images were all really awkward, they look like they barely know HOW to sit! So I decided to draw ponies sitting in weird horse poses instead. Probably coulda pushed these a bit more but ehRelated content

Yeah, equines and most big quadrupeds are not anatomically designed to sit. They can lay down, all the legs at once, but as far as horses go, standing all the time is the way to go.

I have owned ponies for 16 years, and I have never seen one sit in that time. Sure, some do, but it isn't common. As you say - it looks like they don't know how to do it, which is pretty much the case.

These are all positively adorable!
I've spent a decent amount of time around horses, and I can definitely vouch that when they sit, they rarely do so of their own volition and it always looks awkward. So I can see the Mane Six having just as much trouble (and unwillingness). Rarity's is my favorite. She look so uncertain of the whole ordeal yet determined to at least do it in a lady-like fashion, though the others are great too.
Rainbow Dash just retreated to a cloud and probably won't be heard of again until this whole silliness blows over.

That's what I though this comic was supposed to be about. Interesting that it arose from the notion of horses trying to sit.

Fun fact; horse anatomy makes it very dangerous for a horse to sit down at all; they might break a leg or fracture their pelvis if they're not careful. that is why horses sleep standing up.

They look cute! Though from what i've heard, horses pretty much stand up all the time, and may lay down to actually go into deep sleep. Apparently though they do a lot of sleeping standing up.

yeah, sitting looks like a big hassle to them! It almost made me think they only do it when instructed or during the laying-down process.

I've heard especially since the reason they stand up sleeping most of the time is that it takes a while to get down and back up - so if danger is around, they can be ready to sprint if they are already standing up.

Lol yeah XD I guess the people making the show figured it'd be easier though to make them able to do more human-like things. After all, it seems like it'd be difficult to do a lot of the things humans do without fingers

Yeah, though I prefer when they make pony poses over human poses. I love when they do things with their mouths or lay down cute or stomp their hooves! Or like that cherry-sorting part where they were pushing the cherries with their hooves all cute *v*)

Not to mention it makes more SENSE that they'd be making pony poses XD I could imagine though that unicorns gave them a LOT of help with things like building. I wonder if there's even such a thing as writing assignments since only unicorns can pick up a quill pen XD I have only seen a few episodes of the show, so I don't exactly know all of this >.>
Is it weird though that ponies ride carriages drawn by other ponies? It seems really weird unless you think of it like a rickshaw or something XD

Granted, they broke that "rule" since Season 1 (at least one example comes to me immediately, from "Look Before You Sleep," but I'm pretty sure there are others).
They swap between manipulating things with their mouths and just picking them up with their hooves throughout the show; not just the later seasons.
