Description
I wanted to come back to this since Sword & Shield came out (and it's been an eternity since I've drawn anything).Grass: Rillaboom - As soon as I saw the final evolutions for the Galar starters, I was honestly torn between picking Grookey & Scorbunny. I just love Rillaboom's design and concept of being a drummer in a band.
Fire: Cinderace - I LOVE everything about Cinderace as a starter. A soccer-playing fire rabbit with one of the cleanest looking move animations in Sword & Shield. I picked Scorbunny in the end, but got happy when I found out I could get all 3 starters through Pokemon Home.
Water: Ash-Greninja - It's Ash-Greninja. I rest my case.
Normal: Snorlax - I find myself coming back to Gen 1 Pokemon after both S&S and the past couple of anime seasons. Snorlax has such a simple design that just works for me. Also, just the idea of using him as a giant pillow XD
Electric: Ampharos - Pokemon Silver was my first Pokemon game, so I have a soft spot for Johto Pokemon. Ampharos was one of my go-to's for my party. I hope it gets added back to Sword & Shield in future DLC.
Psychic: Lugia - There are a lot of Psychic types that I'm fond of, but this spot just had to go to Lugia for me. Not only because Silver was my first game, but also because I didn't get to see Pokemon the Movie 2000 in theaters as a kid because I got in trouble the day before XD
Fighting: Lucario - Fighting types are my absolute favorite Pokemon, and Lucario is my #1. Lucario & The Mystery of Mew is still my favorite Pokemon movie, and I've been a fan of him since. Urshifu is absolutely #2, but the drop list didn't have him
Rock: Lycanroc - Rockruff & Lycanroc both were an unexpected surprise to see as rock types when they were first announced. I feel like if I had one in real life, I could tell people that it's my pet rock. The other forms don't really do it for me as much as Midday Form. Dusk form came close, but something about that front rock on his head that's off-putting to me.
Ground: Mudsdale - He's still my trusty steed. Ground types in Sword & Shield are the unsung heroes we need, and Mudsdale was still one of my main team members in both S&M and S&S.
Flying: Dragonite - Dragonite is probably my #2 favorite Dragon type. Also, Ash actually catching one blew my mind!
Bug: Scizor - Honestly, I was torn between a few Bug types this time around, but Scizor still takes the top spot. Not only does he have a cool design, but apparently he's pretty good competitively (though I don't play competitive).
Poison: Toxtricity - Until Toxtricity came along, I only was a fan of Croagunk. Toxtricity is another one of my main team, much like many other people. His design and concept are so great, and is also why I rely so much on Ground types in S&S.
Dark: Incineroar - Tigers are my favorite animals in general, so I was hoping that was what Litten would turn into. Incineroar has blown up as a Pokemon so much, and I love using him in Smash. I also called him Flame King because he reminded me so much of King & Armor King from Tekken.
Ghost: Decidueye - Decidueye is just so cool to look at. If Litten didn't become some form of tiger, I probably would've picked Rowlet. He's also really fun to play as in Pokken DX.
Ice: Aurorus - This one was actually pretty tough for me. It was really tough because I like Lapras and Frosmoth, but there's just something about Aurorus that just resonates with me. It may be solely for the aesthetic of its design, but there's just something about Aurorus. Also, I stan Melony, so maybe she could have one in the future.
Steel: Copperajah - I may be one the few people who actually likes Copperajah. I absolutely love the way it looks, especially since it feels like having a true elephant Pokemon (sorry Donphan).
Dragon: Goodra - I'll always love Goodra. He's my squishy friend ^////^
Fairy: Galarian Rapidash - It might just be because of the fact that Rapidash finally got some love after so long, but it's also funny to think of potentially winning a battle and having the My Little Pony theme song play as the fanfare XD
