Description First appearance- Doom 3 (2004)

The Trites and Ticks, the bulk of the Kytorite Hive-Cities, making up much of the working and battle forces of the hive, but there's others behind it all, leading their hives to greatness, as well as being the ones that lay all of the eggs, The Vagaries. Vagaries are the Queen units of the Kytorite species, though there is not only one Vagary per hive, as there is dozens and dozens of them at one time, these royal beasts telepathically control their spawn to do what's best for their home.

Vagaries can't control each other, as a matter of fact, they have their own little culture and private way of living, Vagary Sororities often partake in activities that can only be described as dangerous and strange. These activities all take place out of the Hive, these involve the Sorority doing absolutely dangerous things like; Wrangling giant demonic beasts, jumping on Hierarchy Speed-Cruisers without getting squashed, lighting themselves on fire and seeing how long they last without needing to put themselves, free-falling from horrifying heights, vandalizing Hierarchy property, and of course there's more activities, but there's just too many to list.

These Vagary Sororities do these things to prove each others worth to the hive, just to see if they got what it takes, that, and they get bored of just laying eggs and leading their slightly dim-witted spawn around all day. Its pretty clear that the Vagaries are highly sentient beings within the hive, and that they're just as smart as an average High-Demon, however this doesn't mean they see eye-to-eye with other demons, as they will still attack them on sight.

Vagaries, despite their other roles within the Hive-Cities, do take part in Death Swarms, as Elite Warlords, with the larger Trites steering the swarm forward, and the Vagaries giving them information and tactics as they get to their destination. Even with their biological armor, Vagaries will wear articles clothing and armor to give themselves as sense of personality and presence on the battlefield, they also hold weapons stolen from Hierarchy Supply Tanks, ranging from Machine Guns, Hell Ray Cannons, Harpoon Shotguns, or even Chainmores (Chainsaw Claymore Swords), these weapons not only give them an edge in battle, they also demoralize enemy forces greatly, due to their powerful presence and of course the obvious swarm of giant ravenous bugs.

In the Hierarchy's very own Chorgaar Hive, their Vagaries are utilized differently than Chorgaarian Ticks and Trites, as these Vagaries are used in specific invasion plots, in which they're sent to a targeted planet to colonize the underground, these Vagaries will then create large underhives in secret, hives as big as continents, this process takes long to realize, sometimes almost a century. Once the hives are completed and their populations have reached unimaginably large numbers, they will all simultaneously burst forth from the ground and invade the surface dwellers, killing them all off in droves.

Once the alien population has been exterminated, a psychic message will be sent back to the Hierarchy, where then Hellgates will open and subjugation forces will step forth to claim the planet. These Chorgaarian Vagaries have been kept loyal via genetic modification, these modifications kept the vagaries on the planet, both old and new, psychically connected to the Hierarchy's metabases, where they were monitored and given specific orders to ensure the success of the invasion.
