Did you get inspiration from Ace Combat 3's R-808 Phoca? Because they look somewhat similiar.

I am just like you, in somany ways, I also do fall into 'old skool'. Things we appreciate is like (eclectic generations soup of SCIFI). Hey maybe we can, one day work together on a ship. I like your ideas, ships verymuch.

Right on... Fresh would be perfect ... we can go slow pace step by step. I feel kind of out of my bubble when I start thinking into the artist's finish lines ( for Viewing it is a joy ).  My friend please do not say dry, still yet today / my favorite ship of all times ( that I piloted ) is 12 green lines of Cobra MKIII

Thank you, my take on the shuttle was ...that, she was build in far future as a, postmodern design to honor the very beginning of her era. Back to your question, sure with a fine support we probably can build her in fifty years of time.. my utmost, optimist guess

%0 no.  More like ten or less.  But it is the engines that kills us.  Lets face it, one stage to orbit engine is no real yet.  50 years yes.  But damn it is still a beautiful model.  Wonder if it could be used in any Sci-Fi movies?  Ever tried ?

I hate to say I agree, like last ten days I have been checking out Nasa's progress. They have lovely imagination and programs yet, dont have a cash rich founder for their dreams. I mean Nasa is like a father and a mother to me, to all of us for somany years, yet we are only orbiting this rock Earth not going anywhere near. We will see Mars is all our hopes for now, I say lets get that done , like right away.

In the 60,s the drive was given by the president.  The goal was there.  But now there is no drive, no goal.  Without it were are stuck in first gear.  That is my way of thought.  do not get me wrong, I am with you in the feelings toward NASA.  But the truth is the truth.  However if the park comes again, Watch Out.  Because if the are colonies to be made in the moon, mars or orbit.  I will be one of the first to sign on.!  Remeber we are born explorers.  It is the "What is out there" question that drives us.  All of us.

OrionShipworks [2013-12-06 13:35:53 +0000 UTC]

Awesome! Looks very believable. The design is based on the shuttle but looks much more advanced. It has a 21st century look!

A few of ideas:

1) No vertical tail? IMHO this doesn't look stable. Sorry, but I used to design and build R/C models and I have some experience with what works.

2) The color scheme looks great but if you make a new version I suggest that you add more heat shield on the nose.

On the real life shuttle the black tiles went up to and around the cockpit windows I think.

And you can't have any white tiles exposed on he bottom at all (like on the trailing edge).

3) I'm fascinated by the idea that there are two clusters of engines, but you should extend that concept to having two TYPES of engines.

For example, I think it would look cool if the top engine was one really big engine with a complex light pattern inside. And it should be a different color!

Perhaps one engine is for take-off from ground and the other engine is for use in space.

Just suggestions. Overall it's a exceptionally nice design!

Thank you kindly ,

1 - Yes sir, no vertical tail, she does not even need wings at all. This vessel was build around 2108 to honor, her first generations. She is all arrayed with gravity amplifiers to not only compensate atmospheric issues but also to compensate all exotic forces at, light fold speeds.

2 -  This shuttle's, all exterior is controlled electron by electron. Heavy loads of temperature is not a problem, dark tile theme is just for aesthetics ( well for much harder tasks Top Secret ). She can enter any planet at any angle ( arms open backwards dive... to tip of wing into... ).

3 - You are right drive array can be better, I kind of wanted to limit her speed to nine point one times fold of light speed.

.... Dear OSW thank you again for all the input

Boeing would tend to disagree about the tailless concept: www.bing.com/images/search?q=N…

As would Air Force:   www.bing.com/images/search?q=U…

But you're right about the heat shielding assuming that the percieved "White" Areas aren't actually a different type of sturdier heat shielding.

I agree! It's the most realistic and authentic looking design I've seen so far. I hope NASA will ask you to buid that one

Thanks for the info on the other pic (and the info about the other shuttle, too).

*OrionShipworks :

Not sure if a vertical tail is actually needed on a space shuttle. The last shuttle was said to fly like a brick ... though it HAD a fin. Maybe maneuver thrusters would do that job better.
