Thank you. It is one of my favorite places to go walking and birding. I'm so lucky to have it close by.

This picture also has a very nice effect with the fog. And it does indeed look like the entrance to Mordor!

I really love this marsh and I expect we'll have many more opportunities to photograph it. Hurray!

I agree with John! It DOES look like the marsh from LOTR! Very unusual but beautiful scene.

It looked even more like the marsh near Mordor before the sun broke through. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a shot that worked in that light. But I've been intrigued with this marsh since I discovered it last summer so you may not have seen the last of it...

It does look like the marsh near the Black Gate in the movie

Actually, I wasn't thinking of a particular marsh... just that my nameless marsh looked fantasy-like. And Tolkien immediately sprang to mind. Then I took reader's license and imagined a piece of his world that wasn't actually written. I even pictured that it might be in the shire because it seems too pretty to be malevolent. But then who knows what's under that strange surface?

Thank you! I've spent a lot of time walking around that marsh because it's a great place for birds, but I've always wanted to capture the marsh itself. The ground fog and autumn colors gave me a nice opportunity.

It was just the right moment, I think. I like that the fog seems to be mostly behind the trees which makes it quite interesting with the texture contrasts....

Thanks! I kept thinking it was probably stupid to be wandering around South Park in the fog with all the water fowl hunters... but I did it anyway.
