Description

This is the first drawing in my attempt to do a drawing a day. As a still-amateur artist, drawing every day is a well-known way to improve one’s drawing skills, and I’m hoping that it will help me in the same way.

The bigger motivator for me to continue this challenge though has to do with the physical disability I have. With my form of Epidermolysis Bullosa, a portion of the patients also have a problem with webbing around the fingers and toes. My left hand is completely useless for holding things, but my right hand is open just enough that I can hold a pen. But it’s become a constant fight trying to keep it from closing that space, and drawing (therefore, working out my hand and the skin that wants to web) is a useful tool in keeping this open. This challenge motivates me to keep up my drawing every day, and since my right hand is in “use it or lose it” mode, this is incredibly important.

Included in the Journal Entry is the sketch without the color!
