hmmm. Well, you can put masking tape on the soles of the shoes to make sure paint doesn't get on them, and what I do is a sketch on them in pencil, outline it in ultra fine-tip sharpie, then paint over it with acrylic and water, and then outline it again. You don't need anything to seal it, if it's made from acrylic paint and sharpies you should be fine
