Well this interesting since I almost went blind into this. After revealing Yellow Diamond's past partners and what they looked liked, it had been in the back of my mind for a while. The only reason I didn't do this sooner was I was waiting for any colours for the HNK. And we kind of got what sapphire looks like in the Houseki no Kuni anime in episode 6/7 when the Lunarians had a Sapphire trap that crushed the Amethyst twins.

I took a gut feeling with the HnK! Ruby and the saturation of their gem colour.

Steven Universe Sapphire is easier to draw then Ruby and I feel uncomfortable how I drew SU! Ruby. Oh well, something to practice on in the future.

Anyway for the concept behind this piece. Not much to say, Hnk! Sapphire looks very bland and isn't very interested in many things. I would almost say their personality is similar to Neptunite if anything. Doesn't show much interest and not very talktative. Also very blunt. As for Hnk! Ruby, I would say they're almost flirtaous? They like to show off a bit and may have been like Red Beryl when concerned about their looks. But I would also say that Ruby is also very perceptive and like Okita Souji in Hakuoki? The flirtous personality is only a front but underneath, they are much more.

Both sapphires would get along well since they don't talk too much but I think they would still be wary of each other. As for the Rubies, I don't think SU! Ruby would like HnK! Ruby, since they would be keen on getting to know SU! Ruby but not in a friendly matter, though HNK! Ruby wouldn't outright pressure SU!Ruby directly.

However, with the SU! Sapphire and Ruby, they can only imagine being shattered into pieces and they can only feel sad for their Houseki no Kuni counterparts. And knowing the fact their counterparts were shattered, both Sapphire and Ruby cannot bear the fact of losing each other if their partner was shattered, with no hope of ever being reclaimed and being fixed as a whole being.

It would be something both the Steven Universe Sapphire and Ruby cannot bear.
