Wow. This piece has taken me forever and a day.This is my first real manip, as most of you know I have been experimenting with contrasts/cutting/layers in GIMP2 2.0 for a while; so I decided to play my hand at a real photo manipulation.
What do you think? It is one of my characters, Eternal Sleep.
Originally, Eternals mane and tail were normal, but they break out into flames at the ends. This was way more fun and the only way I could get it to look decent.
I downloaded some fire brushes, but in the end it was just easier to manipulate the fire. This is my first time working with fire and my last for a while. It took a ridiculous amount of time to complete.

The colors on the horse are wonderful. The flames work really well with the body too.
You can see a really great line of motion, with the horse turning. You can really, really, imagine the horse moving like that. It brings your eye through the curve the horse has made.
