I'm betting the reason it's not working for most people is because they have the new paint. It would be very helpful if you could make a tutorial for the new verison. I mean... I make my icon using this.

Make sure you use the dropper tool to choose the color you want to change (on the left box, by right clicking) to the color you're changing it to (on the right box).
Example: say the base is white, and you want to change it to red. Click the 'dropper' tool, and click the white color (to make sure it's exactly the right color). Then, click the second box on the right, and change the color to red.
Your boxes should now be [white][red] respectively. Now you can right-click the picture with the eraser and drag it over the character.
This should do it, I think. c:

Make sure that the front color (the left square) is exactly the color you want to replace 0:

Well the only problem is...
The base icon isn't like... smooth, if you know what I mean? Like, not ONE colored part across the face.
