Raphtalia's wonderful. Easily a top tier waifu. But functionally the best partner Naofumi could get would actually have to be the spider girl Kumoko, from ‘So I’m a Spider, So What?’. (Especially if she's about the size of a house cat, and can ride on Naofumi’s shoulder, or hide in his cloak.) Naofumi's a brick wall who lacks attack power, while Kumoko's a glass cannon who lacks defence.The two of them can fight as one, with Kumoko handing the offence & Naofumi handing the defence, and together they can become one unstoppable tank of a warrior, called the Spider Shield. And they would need to regularly hunt large amounts of prey to keep Kumoko fed, which of course would lead to them levelling up faster and quickly outpacing the other 3 Heroes. They could also bond over the common ground of getting isekaied and royally screwed over.

Plus, Rapltalia doesn't even need to be cut out completely. She just can't be Naofumi’s sword anymore.
