Description One of a pair of my baby African Rock Pythons(Python sebae), the female, I think. This species has a much-undeserved reputation for a nasty temper, just like the Water Snakes. I have yet to see a nasty one. My two babies are extremely sweet little snakes, and my previous AfRock, an adult male that I lost to a respiratory infection years ago, was as nice and calm as they come. These snakes don't come in the wide array of genetic "morphs" that the other two giant pythons-Burmese and Reticulateds-do, unfortunately, though I still like their normal coloration. This is the third largest Python species in the world, although females get much larger than males, as with all Pythons.

Beautiful little Afrock. I have a 2 year old male, myself.
If you want to see some fantastic looking Afrock morphs, go to highendherps.com. They have some insane looking morphs, of course they've had to hybrid them with Burmese to get the morphs in them.

Sadly, High End Herps in no longer. You do know that the local "humane" societies, with help from HSUS, "confiscated"(as in STOLE)all their snakes on trumped-up charges of animal cruelty and neglect, stemming mostly from rumors in the neighborhood that they were stealing cats and dogs to feed to their snakes, right? This is a popular wives' tale that is being perpetrated by the Animal Rights nuts all over the country to justify banning large snakes-that all large constrictor owners either steal other pets or get them for free off classifieds sites and feed them to our snakes, that we get some sort of perverse pleasure of watching our snakes kill helpless and terrified cats and dogs. Louisiana has since even passed a state law prohibiting snakes that have the potential to reach lengths over six feet, which would even include the native TX Rat Snake and Louisiana Pine if you think about it.
