Description I haven't drawn a face since that Altair picture ages ago, and even then it was mostly in shadow.
What? I added a helmet so I didn't have to draw hair, okay? And once I'd done that, I needed a uniform to go with it. I chose this one because black clothing is easiest to shade. Not because the Waffen-SS uniform looks cool.
Anyway, this has taken about 6 hours so far; I'm not sure if I'll make any further changes. There are a couple of things that are off-kilter, but I've probably spent too much time on this already. Poor quality is because this was a photograph, I havent scanned it iyet.

have you used a reference photograph? If so, could you send me a link?
I pretty much like your drawing overall, it's just the shape of the face looks odd to me, especially the nose and the eyes

the collar could need some work as well but like I said,  overall it seems pretty good

Yes, here's a link to the reference photograph: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia…
It shows Obersturmführer Fritz Rentrop of the elite 2nd SS Panzer Division ('Das Reich'). The medal he's wearing is a Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross.
Thanks for the comment, I always appreciate feedback! Next time I try drawing a face I'll attempt to balance the features better.
