i'm really wondering which one they'll go with now in the final game, i'm thinking the official art version since it actually oddly enough looks better depsite not being as accurate to the original design

Hey they made the art look more like TTYD/SPM Bowser instead of Sticker Star. Good.

I noticed that too. The artwork is the Bowser from 64/TTYD/SPM, while the sprite is from Sticker Star. Maybe I'm setting myself up for disappointment but I hope this hints at Bowser returning to his old design in the final game. Would be a bit of a nice throwback to the first 3 PM games which seem to be going largely unrecognized in this game.

Think they will be unrecognized in this game due for legal issues with Intelligent Systems, similar to how they're no Pokemon amiibo skins in Woolly World.

well as a paper mario fan, the one in the game looked like it was from the frist game, and the one you circle is maybe the newest one, idk X3 it been a while to do Paper mario sprites so it just long agoΒ

considering that the screenshot is taken from E3 which was back in July and that the art of Paper Bowser is taken from the Famitsu article that came out earlier this month it wouldn't be to much of a stretch to assume that the art style for the Paper Bowser has been slightly changed in the past three months. (a lot can happen in three months)
it is interesting to note that the rings at the base of the spikes on Bowser's shell was a detail first added in Sticker Star to keep the art style a bit closer to the normal Mario art style, it's possible that Nintendo heard the complaints of the fans over a few things in Sticker Star and decided to change this small detail back to the way it was in the previous three games.
