I love this game. It's so fun and cute and charming. The story is also A+, with an ending that is really something special.
This picture fits that description as well. I considered writing a fanfic of Slime Rancher, just for laughs, and thought about Bea having one special slime that wasn't kept in a corral (because they somehow kept escaping) which I coincidentally chose as a Tabby Slime. I never had a scene like this in mind; the closest I had was Bea sitting in bed, reading a message from Casey, with the Tabby curiously cuddling up with her. This picture looks like it takes place in the Moss Blanket or Overgrowth and is very appropriate and adorable.

That'd be adorable. I'd love it. I'd pick a Tabby because they are so cute.
It'd also be cool if those pet slimes could change into unique or semi-unique versions if you took extremely good care of it, like regularly feeding it favorite foods and going to sleep at certain times so they sleep with you (I can imagine players becoming night owls because they chose a Phosphor for a pet).
There could be certain bonuses too given to Bea once these pet slimes reach this higher affection level. For example, a Tabby Slime can turn into a Lucky Slime, and the Plort Market's increase chances and increase amounts are larger, meaning a higher average price for all plorts. Phosphor Slimes become Luminous Slimes and Bea gains better night vision or follows Bea along to provide light at night and in dark areas. Hunter Slimes can become Predator Slimes, and Bea no longer gets attacked by hungry Hunters or Ferals. Puddle Slimes become Aqua Slimes which follow Bea around and take out Tarrs if they are around by spitting bubbles or water streams at them (yes, that's ripped straight from pokemon and I don't care, it'd still be awesome). Rock Slimes become Geo Slimes; Bea takes half damage from any source. Rad Slimes become Nuclear/Ion Slimes; Bea's energy drains half as fast and returns twice as quickly. Dervish Slimes become Whirlwind Slimes; Bea's dashes and jumps become even faster/higher and her vac has a longer range. Quantum Slimes become Temporal Slimes; Bea automatically returns to the last solid ground she was standing on if she falls into the Slime/Sand Seas.
Just think of the possibilities!

While these all sound awesome they are either overpowered and would break the game or just not needed. When did you ever have to use the flashlight on the vac (I'd love a super dark area in the game) or got knocked out by slimes? The game is not hard enough to have advantages such as these. If anything pets would mostly be cosmetic. And I wouldn't mind working on slime science to get their visuals changed though the gadgets. It would only add to the game instead of taking from it.
