I just love the idea of a little magic. Anyone who stumbles upon this deviation will be inspired and intrigued by this heartwarming artwork.
The animation runs smoothly. I like the metallic look you've succeeded in this piece. The effect you've created with the glitter seems almost impossible for me to even think about replicating.
I have tried animation stamps and I've found that even the simplest of animations are a pain to work with. I have so much respect for you because of this. I can't imagine how much work you must've done on this. It has definitely been worth it in the finished product.
One thing that I would like to focus on is that in the last frame, it seems to just "blink out". Maybe a fade out would make the entire animation much smoother? Just some advice, not to be taken to heart.
All and all, this piece is simply magical!

Many thanks for the awesome critique zap! I really appreciate you taking the time to let me know what you think!
I always find it a funny comparison between the art I do that I really like and the art I do that other people really like. That little stamp took SOOOO much work, and it really doesn't get much attention. I made a simple screen capture of the cheshire cat from the new Alice in Wonderland a while back and made a stamp out it, and that thing has over 2,000 favs now! I guess working hard at something doesn't necessarily guarantee it will be liked by others!
Anyway, I really appreciate the critique because that stamp is one of my personal favorites even though it doesn't get much love (normally!)
Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you!

How do you mean? Like the stamp border or the part inside? I just use a template for the stamp border - the inside part is created differently depending on what I'm trying to make. In this case the inside was made using After Effects.

do you know where there are any tutorials on how to make one like that one?

actually yes - that one was adapted from a tutorial. If you look at the large version:

There are links to the tutorials I used to create that effect.
Hope this helps!

Thanks JP! It always means a lot coming from you! I'm SERIOUSLY addicted to AE! It has to be one of the all time coolest programs ever made!

AE is easy to get addicted to
! I agree with you, it is one of the coolest programs ever made. I'm really interested in seeing what AE CS5 is like
. And there is already SO MUCH to AE
!

pixelworlds In reply to joshpurple [2010-05-29 22:25:12 +0000 UTC]
Ya! I SOOOOOO addicted! It has taken a little bit of mental work to start learning it though. I have been so used to how 3D programs operate that I've really had to kind of forget them for a bit to learn AE. I think I just got used to the way that Max works, so my intuition tells me to approach something one way and with AE it is pretty much always wrong! Such different approaches.
What I don't understand is why aren't there more AE fanatics here on dA? There are SOOOO many 3D artists now - but you almost never hear of AE guys/girls? All I can think about are the infinite ways I can combine 3D and AE!!! And actual footage for that matter! My head can't stop thinking about the possibilities! I just can't figure out why there is such a tiny handful of AE artists here?!!
I'm using CS5 - but I regret to tell you that I don't know enough about the program to be able to tell you the difference from CS4. But one day!

Very cool ! Glad to hear it. No worries about AE CS4 vs. AE CS5, but GREAT to hear you're working with AE CS5! Excellent XD ! There's so much specializing with apps that goes on currently, that users really end-up with barely enough time to keep-up with just one powerful app (Max, Maya, AE, PS, etc.). Even within one app, a lot of people specialize on just one plugin/aspect of the app to keep-up (addiction
).
You may have done this already but, be sure to go to Adobe.com and check out User Groups, then look-up the AE User Group. You should find local AE User Groups (example; I joined the Minnesota AE User Group ). I'm guessing the San Fran AE User Group is huge ! The Adobe User groups can be awesome resources for hooking-up with jobs, tuts, finding answers to problems, etc.
AE

Wow It's so pretty, Richie
I think dA should probably hire you
How are doing? How did all the moving go? Any news about the university??

Thanks Jenny! I didn't think you still came by my page!
I'm good! Bored right now, but good otherwise. I don't start my new school until the 28th of June and Nic and Rowan are back in California until the 12th. So I'm just kind of sitting around right now thinking of ways to pimp out the dA logo!
The move was terrible! It was a long drive. Just short of 3,000 miles. But the really shitting part was the movers we hired to move our stuff. They tried to scam us for so much for extra money. They took forever to deliver our stuff and after all the crap they gave us I found out later that the glass on my scanner is broken!
But whatever, it's over with now!
You were going to send me a note about your new man but you never did?!

Heya-heya No need to thank me, I should apologize that I don't comment as much anymore, that's totally my fault
I hate to leave comments like "whooooa cooool" because they're boring and such, but sometimes I have no time and sometimes there's not much I can add to the "whoooa", because your works are awesome but I know nothing about 3D, so I can just sit and adore
Seriously, please don't think I'm ignoring you or something... I just wish I knew how to express how cool the things you create are
June 28th? So you're gonna start the studies in summer..? How does that work..? In Russia we traditionally have summer holidays when all the students relax or do what they please.
Uhhh, must be sad without the girls... at least it's less than two weeks and then you'll be back together again
Moving sounds shit... I'm so sorry it was such a hassle And urgh, the scanner...
But you're right, at least all this is now over and you can settle down for a bit What does Nic actually think about all of this? How did she react to moving?
Sorry dear, I never forgot about the note, so I am to do this right now because I'm home alone and have some free time

pixelworlds In reply to Simceros [2010-05-31 05:27:51 +0000 UTC]
Ya, it is usually that students get the summer off here also. But this school works differently. So ya, I'll be starting classes during summer. But I really don't mind. I'm anxious to get started!
I'm SOOOO bummed about my scanner! That means that I can't scan in my traditional drawings until I get a new one! Which I, of course, don't have the money for right now because the move here was expensive! Aaaaarrrrrggggggggg!
I just feel like forking that moving company! But whatever, nothing I can do about it now!

I can probably do a pretty cool one for you if you'd like? Perhaps something with Cronachan?! Do you have any good picture of your Cronachan doll against a background I could remove without too much pain and aggravation?

That would be AWESOMESAUCE!!!!!
I don't know, if my photos are good enough.... Maybe the right part of this one [link] or better that one [link] due to the pose. The only other photo I'd have in mind would be one of the most favourited doll photos [link]
Please don't do it, if it is too much fuss to remove the background!

I like the right pose from the first link. But why oh why did you have to take the picture with that background, Sio!?!? Do you still have that Doll? Would it be out of the question to get a shot like that against a plain, light colored background?

Of course I still have that doll. I will try to take a photo with a lighter background tonight.
