Description THANKGODITSFINALLYFINISHED.

I'm really happy how this turned out - walking around in it all day didn't even cause any damage that can't be fixed with some silver paint. More detail on the actual event in my latest journal.

you nailed it! Β wish I knew how to make my own armor cause I've been thinking about my own character Agent Illinois. Β if you want more details shoot me a message.

Thank you!

Making armour like this isn't really that hard, it's more time-consuming than anything else. Including templating, this suit took about 3-4 months to make.

There are a few things to take into consideration when building an armour set like this - the usual of time, cost, etc, but also age. I built this when I was 17, figuring that I wouldn't grow enough for the suit to no longer fit me... but as it turns out, my hips have grown wider and now I can barely put the belt piece on.

If you are dead-set on making armour, though, you'll need Pepakura Designer 3 (of which ou can get a free shareware version), to follow the tutorial here: www.squidoo.com/how-to-make-ha… and get your Pepakura files here: halocostuming.wikia.com/wiki/P…

If you need any help, just message me and I'll be happy to get back to you.

Happy building!

is yours real metal?

God no, that would be way too heavy! I used gym floor mats - it's essentially EVA foam - and cut the required shapes with templates, then stuck it together with hot glue and sealed and spraypainted everything. All up, the entire suit probably weighs about 4 kilos, if that. I know that fiberglassing the suit instead would have made it about 30 kg. I shudder to think how heavy (and how hot!) a metal suit would be!

if I were to ever try to make my own armor I would try to make it as close to a functioning suit of armor as I could. Β I would probably use 10mm thick steel sheet metal for the big and bulky parts and the rest would be fiberglass with foam padding on the inside. Β the helmet is the easy part, buy a custom motorcycle helmet.

That's certainly ambitious! Just be aware that, again, a suit like that will be very heavy and make it difficult to navigate at conventions. I mean, my shoulders were starting to get a little sore after a day walking around in justΒ a foam suit.

Nice cosplay! Do you have any photos of you wearing the helmet?

No, I don't, seeing as no helmet exists.
I'm not sure if I will make one - I was looking at a tutorial, and apparently Rogue helmets are the hardest to get on without over sizing them, and that coupled with my somewhat below average height, would result in me looking like a Carolina bobble head. I will be rebuilding the chest piece to fit the season 10 version - I'll be making it in two connecting parts, so that I can make it smaller (I had to make the current one bigger so I could fit my head through the neck hole.) I possibly will make the grapple gun too.

Thanks! I'm actually rebuilding the chest piece in two parts, so it will be smaller and in scale with the rest of the armour,as well as adding the little flaps she has on her shoulders in sesson 10, and possibly making the grapple gun.

Sorry, it's part of my Major Work for HSC Art. And it's sized specifically for me, so I doubt it'd fit you.
