i saw a gatchaman dvd for sale the other day at blockbuster. i didn't buy it, but i drew this. this is a much cheaper way to show my appreciation. i loved that show!Related content

when i was younger i used to watch this anime called g-force (american/dubbed version). the original anime was called gatchaman. there's currently a comic series by the name of battle of the planets featuring the same characters. this is princess (or jun, or agatha, or june...but she's the swan). good show! so many incarnations of it! this site has a lot of info [link]

Actually, for the genesis of the whole series, it was originally made in Japan and entitled "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman". Sandy-Frank Productions in the US got the rights for it, redubbed it and added some additional animated bits -- of a robot watchman named 7-Zark-7 and his dog 1-Rover-1 -- and edited it heavily to bring it to American audiences as "Battle of The Planets".
In the original US dub, the team was renamed "G-Force", and all the characters were given American names -- Mark, Jason, Princess, Tiny and Keyop, and the lead villian was renamed Zoltan from Keyser Soze -- and, while it was still entertaining, a lot of the blood and death was taken out (Including the original ending of the series, where the entire team sacrificed themselves to stop the enemy and died).
Later, a new production company redubbed and repackaged the entire series as "G-Force", and it was re-released in recent years. (I have no info on this, but I did see this appear on CN briefly).
I remember it well because it was so different from any of the cartoons that were being showed in the Late-70's at the time. ^_^

I used to watch "Battle Of The Planets" everyday when I was young. I loved that show, along with Star Blazers.
