Do you mind if I use a few of these for inspiration for weapon sketches? particularly the 1st, 3rd, and 5th swords in the right column

Yus. I merely draw what I'm commissioned to draw.

Do you think I could draw one of these swords? I'd credit and link you of coarse :3

Sure, if you like. Direct copies for copyright reasons are dodgy, of course... ie, don't sell 'em.

That's awesome! I showed it to the Lore of Steel writer (and co-owner) by the way, and he adored it too and wanted to know if you'd be making any more. LOVE that you took this into 3d, super cool stuff. <3

I think I will be redoing the first video. Some of my viewers though I talked to much. Also I will be doing another video on how to create the textures for the swords and then texture layer them in the 3d modeling software. So the basic texture map (color) the normal map (fake bumps and detail) and the Specular Map which is how much you want it to shine.
Just to be clear this tutorial show is OK with you and the Lore of Steel owner. I am not making any money off of it and don't want to. I also wont be releasing the the 3d object unless it is to you or the owner if you want to see/ play with them yourself.

Oh yes, it's fine with us! We're actually rather tickled to see it, to be honest. It's cool! Please do keep me updated with links to your new videos, I'd love to see.

Sorry, I'm afraid you can't. I did these for another game, and they own the rights.

No, sorry. I don't work for free. This is my job. You can't use any of my work for free.

It's a standard tabletop roleplaying game, much like D&D but more streamlined. I'm not really responsible for how the game works, though, I just draw the pictures.

These are absolutely beautiful. These weapons are on par with Frostmourne for the most stunning blades I have ever seen...

Thank you very much! This was my first experience with drawing weaponry, so it was definitely a learning process!

Thanks! The wood idea was not mine, though - I'm just illustrating the ideas of my clients at Lore of Steel. All credit on the idea goes to them!

I looove the ironwood one! Did you use OC for these? Or photoshop or something?

pixieface In reply to muted-lark [2010-06-05 23:32:03 +0000 UTC]
Yep, Open Canvas for all of it. (Well, drew each one individually in Open Canvas, then put together a sheet in Photoshop.)

Yup, apparently I do! It's a first for me, but I figured out quite an easy way to do sword design, and it went pretty well in the end, I think!

Hohoo, This made me think back about old games where you collected new upgraded swords. Gave me a rather nostalgia attack.
Don't know much about Lore of Steel yet, though.

It's a tabletop/online rpg - so very oldschool. These aren't designs for a computer game, more for a tabletop book which will also be online.
