Well, he knows about Fani's emotions and he knows that she loves him too much to deceive him. She even knows herself that she would never do anything that might harm him, which is why instead she makes such an effort to make him like her because maaaaybe tomorrow things will be better and he will have come to a better state of mind..?

I can see how she would think that way.
I have the same problem with my uncle, who doesn't like my parents, or my siblings and I. We try to do nice things for him, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
But yes, I understand how she would think that way. Because Fani sees what Gaster does to Sans. And I don't think she really likes it...?

She does see and participate with the experiment, but her self esteem is too low to speak up. She wouldn't go against Gaster. On the contrary, if she proved how efficient she is he might take her more seriously and possibly then she might state her opinions. She doesn't like what they're doing though, and without spoiling too much she will get her retribution eventually
