A long time ago I created an app for eternity of dreams of a delibird named Jessica. ( pixieparrot.deviantart.com/art…) She was a spunky, energetic 13-year-old who loved Christmas and giving out gifts.
I eventually left the group but Jessica was always floating around in my consciousness. I found myself missing drawing her, and regretting not using her to her full potential.
So, when I was searching for RP groups and found this one I was so happy. The group itself has a great and creative backstory, not to mention so potential for drawing and RP'ing. I made her older and toned down her personality so she didn't seem like she was always on sugar rush all the time-I am really looking forward to seeing where she goes.

Occupation: Postal Worker for the Lumoise City branch. (Works as a delivery girl). She also works as a waitress to pay her rent.

Town of Residence: Lumoise City. She currently lives above a small café of a couple who took her in by her caretaker’s recommendation. In exchange for their hospitality she works as a waitress as a part-time job.

Appearance: Jessica is that of a stout girl. She is very short (about 5’4) and a bit pudgy around the edges. From a distance she looks to be in her early teens, but on closer inspection she looks much older. Her eyes are a vibrant light yellow, masked by her large glasses, which she keeps on at all times. Her hair is soft and silky, being slightly jagged at the bottom. She is usually found wearing fuzzy jackets and warm clothing even in muggy weather, due to her being so used to enduring the freezing cold. Her little pigtails bounce as she walks.

Jessica has a serious ambition streak, to the point of being scary. She will go great lengths to achieve her goals, and will obliterate all obstacles that get in her path. While this does help in her delivery duties, as she will do everything in her power to make sure the package is given on time to the right person, she has been known to get stranded in weather or lost because she didn’t heed someone’s advice. Jessica feels that her way is the best way (usually) and will only really listen to someone’s warnings when she is critical need or at her lowest point.

Jessica is a glass-half-full kind of person. She always looks to the silver lining in everything, which helps out in both achieving her goals and getting along with people. Because of this she is extremely gullible, and is usually the first to fall for lies or traps. She will probably only leave you alone if you call a restraining order or give her a gift instead.

She has dreamed of marrying into a wealthy family, or inheriting a large sum of money from someone. However that doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen any time soon.

History:

Jessica was born in the outskirts of Snowpoint City. From the start she was different from her other siblings. When night fell and her family curled up to keep warm and sleep Jessica was wide awake. She tried and tried to fall into a deep slumber but she didn’t feel tired. Instead she spent her nights exploring her mountain home, which she felt was much more beautiful under the dark sky. The nights in the mountains were long and Jessica found she had many hours for exploring. She’d go farther and farther distances each night, curious of what laid ahead. One day after traveling a while she saw lights in the distance. Curious, she waddled closer and saw that it was bustling town, full of humans.

Oh my it was spectacular! Jessica gasped at the hanging wreaths, the sparkling lights, the sounds, the laughter! She peeked in shop windows at the glorious displays of stuffed pokemon and trains. Her mouth watered at the delectable sweets and candies. Then she heard singing. Angelic singing. She waddled over to see a group of human gathered around…a tree. A giant green tree! Decorated with candies, toys and colors galore! Jessica felt like she was in a dream.

In the morning back at her cave she told her family of the wonderful sights she saw. Her mother told her what she just experienced was called Christmas, a holiday celebrated by humans every year. Jessica dreamed of Christmas. The thing that most interested her was the gifts. Humans gave each other boxes and when they opened them-there was a surprise inside! The delibird was fascinated. Where did the item come from and why did it bring so much joy to people? Jessica wanted to find out for herself.

When she and her siblings finally learned “Present” Jessica was ecstatic. She went around, giving gifts to every single pokemon she meet. The look on their face when they received the gift, surprised and overjoyed, made Jessica feel so happy inside. She saw the more gifts she gave the happier she became. She became known as the “Gift Giver” and people came to her for a nice pick-me-up.

After a while of doing this Jessica felt like she should share her gifts with not only pokemon but humans as well. Ignoring the advice of her family to stay away from them, she began her trek to the fabled city of her childhood to bring gifts to the world.

When she arrived it wasn’t the colorful city she once knew. While it was still bright she didn’t see any colorful decorations or big trees. She didn’t take much notice of this though. Taking out a present she waddled up to the nearest human, a small girl and offered it to her. The girl smiled and took the present thanking her. The delibird could hardly wait the suspense when she unfolded the wrapping. Then BAM! A huge explosion went up in the street. Jessica coughed and cleared the smoke away. She then saw the young girl, her face and hands red and burnt. She started to cry. Jessica stared in disbelief. How could a present (let alone her present) cause so much sorrow? She ran away into a nearby alley, tearing up at the memory of the poor girl.

A young man had seen what had happened and quickly took Jessica into his home. He bandaged her wounds and laid her on the ground, recognizing the pokemon as the delibird who was frequently seen wandering on the outside of the village. He sighed as he stroked Jessica’s fur.

“Poor you. You just want to fit in among the humans, don’t you?” At this statement he paused for a minute, as he walked away and returned with a small device that said “Dittech” on it and pointed it at Jessica…

When Jessica woke up up she found herself sitting at on the wall of a busy street feeling…different. She looked down to see that instead of wings, she had opposable thumbs and her flippers had turned to feet. She saw she was fully clothed, along with a bag with an envelope of money in it and a small letter in it, giving her directions to a café in Lumoise City where she could stay. Overwhelmed and overjoyed at her newfound limbs and appearance, Jessica boarded a train to Kalos’ capital, in hopes of finding a place where she could be accepted.

Extras:

• Jessica suffers from insomnia, and it is very hard for her to go to sleep. Because of this she usually takes the night shift at her post office, for she feels much more at ease under the night sky.
• While the town still holds painful memories, Jessica frequently returns to Snowbelle City for their Christmas celebration and to look for the young man who helped her. So far she hasn’t had any luck, however she someday wants to met her "prince charming".
• She is rather reluctant to visit her family, for she’s not entirely sure how to explain her new predicament.

• Is most at ease in the cold, so she frequently has her apartment air-conditioned.
• She is not particularly bright, but is not dumb either. She’s average in terms of intelligence, but very adept at strategizing and planning.
• Jessica's voice is really squeaky, and she sounds really young. When she sings her voice is a 1st soprano.
• Jessica acts young for her age, the reason being that she isn't used to being independent, nor has had a good deal of social interaction.
• Despite her average intelligence, Jessica is very sharp and detail-oriented, and can catch things that other people may overlook.

He felt a few tears well up at his cheeks, but the vaporeon didn't really care. "I...I used to read this to my siblings when they would go to bed. I would act out the parts with voices and everything...they really liked how I would play the prince in particular." He gave a long sigh, looking back up at Octavia.
