Well, Garry's Mod has it's own flaws and charms.
One can work with it well enough, while another one can only work with Source Filmmaker.
It really depends on who is the artist and what he prefers.
Look at Vioxtar's Art. All of his work was done with G-Mod.
That's something even an professional SFM-er can't compete with.
I can sum it up with one sentence:
SFM - Perfect for Videos / Animating. Also good for Poses.
G-Mod - Fun little Sandbox Game with THOUSANDS of Gamemodes and Addons. Also good for Posing. Not so good for animating (but there are exceptions like EltorroRus, Antoine Delak and so on)
Patience is the key.

Well, then wait for an event. It should get discounted from time to time.
As i said, Gmod is NOT the best to work with... It's merely for playing (screwing) around. Only a fracture of players work with G-Mod seriously.
Not only that, you would need to get every MAJOR tool (Addon) needed to start posing seriously. SFM already has every tool needed to begin with.
And even with every needed tool installed, you only get SO much control from it. SFM has way more options and control. But even with all these pet-peeves, i will always stick with G-Mod.

The arm is from the TF2 female civilian Model from Gmod.
